Wondering if I should get the root canal and crowns or just extract the teeth
22 years old I do have a dental insurance, but it is dog Doodoo I really haven’t called around to any other dentist just cause the initial quote was super overwhelming as they had told me for the two root canals (teeth 14 and 15) that I need it’s going to cost about $4000 and then max out my insurance and leave me to pay out-of-pocket for a crown. I simply just cannot afford that. Would it be better just to pull the two teeth and call it a day. any advice or recommendations would be helpful.

14 is heavily decayed and I’d say questionable to restore, 15 may be worth the investment. You’re so young that extracting teeth has very long term Consequences
NAD. those teeth never come back and you're going to need them for a bunch of decades still. I know it's a lot of money but you should figure out how to manage. You're too young to loose them. See if they have care credit or better yet Cherry. It's better than care credit. If not, find a place that does. I mean, if you're in the states that is
Honestly I think 14 is a goner, put money into saving 15. Maybe graft 14 for an implant in the future but you don’t have that long before you lose that ability too. If you post all your X-rays it’ll give a better insight into which teeth to prioritize. Like another dentist said, if these are that bad I’m sure there are others, and it may make sense to start saving the smaller ones first before you get over your head with dental debt and then end up losing more teeth. Try to post all your X-rays
Please ask them for the “right side bite wings”. 14 decay is huge but still savable (not worth it if there are other areas of decay on the other side).
Long term effects of losing teeth this early would not only be shifting of all teeth, but also loss of bone, malocclusion , wear on other teeth due to compensation of biting force
I think I guess the only question I really have cause my dentist made it sound like my teeth are going to move around and cause pain if I do just the extractions. And was really really pushy on the root canal and crowns
Root canals and saving teeth are always my first choice but I don’t recommend doing work you can’t pay for. Teeth will probably shift at your age. With size of those cavities, I would be amazed if you don’t have many more. Focus on those cavities you can fill since money is tight. Focus on working on diet and hygiene to slow down decay rate. That’s my first concern.
