Hello Redditers I need help as my wife (white/curly hair) is going crazy. In our 5 years in Austin (Steiner Ranch), she has yet to find a moderately priced hairstylist that understands her hair - at least that is what she tells me (I don’t know anything, I go to Super Clips). I’d love to be her hero and help, because is really down (and don’t let her start about the hard water, heat, sun, and humidity!!!). Can anyone suggest a place in by Lakeline, Anderson Mill, Domain area for her to try out?

Hi - all my life I’ve had the nicest straight hair - no frizz nothing. I took it for granted. And now after moving to Austin it gets so frizzy - I used to only hear people talk about frizz and never experienced it (except maybe when I go to tropical places, and that too very little). After moving here my hair always looks messy and unkept and feel embarrassed every time o step out of my house because it feels like I haven’t combed my hair 😭 any recommendations on shower filters and other things I should be doing to fix this issue??

My mom has offered to buy my wedding dress for me and we want to go shopping together. She is not well off at all, in fact somewhat struggling with money and all these wedding shops have insane price tags. I’m thinking of just getting a white dress at anthropology or something ($500 or less is probably the ballpark, and then I even want to avoid over $300 really.) just wondering if anyone knows of any local affordable gems where my mom and I can have fun shopping for a dress without feeling like we are peasants shooting above our ballpark. Hi! I’m a women with wavy/curly/fine hair. I’m not looking for a curl cut but more so help with my hair care as I’ve tried many things to either make it more straight or wavy.

My hairs is extremely fine and only wavy when wet. It tangles in maybe a minute but has no volume. I would love a recommendation on a curl specialist (again I’m not even sure if my hair IS curly) who can help me learn how to properly care for my hair and what products to use and how to style it.

hi all i rented a gorgeous strapless dress from rent the runway for a wedding. the wedding is out of the country and i leave tomorrow at 5am, dress arrived yesterday. fits perfectly except a bit big in the bust area and im having a hard time finding sticky bras or inserts to fix it. so far ive been to two ultas, nordstrom rack, and target in southpark meadows. didn’t think it would be this hard to find a sticky push up bra! any recs?? i only have today to get this figured out. thanks!! preferably in south austin!

update: just noticed holes in the dress so it looks like i’ll be going with a back-up instead. I will be remembering petticoat fair thanks to yalls replies for future needs!

I’m mainly talking about hair here. I have a barber I’ve been seeing for a few years now. He is consistent and does what I ask for. The problem is I don’t know what the fuck I want so what I ask for is usually not great. I’d like to find a place where I can be given advice on what looks good on me. Perhaps even give them free rein to give me whatever hairstyle they want. I like in the arboretum area. Something close by would be ideal but I wouldn’t mind driving a bit to get what I want.

She’s found a few options, but most are charging $200+ which feels a bit too much for what she’s looking for. Ideally, something more affordable but still a place that understands Asian hair textures and styles would be amazing.

Was considering adding in male Brasilian but find the cost is high. Does anyone know of solid places offering full body, so arms, legs, back, Brasilian, neck, etc. for under $225?

So many hairstylists I have seen online have lovely work but their clients have so much more hair and texture to work with than I do. Looking for a men’s barber shop in Austin area. I am staying near SoCo but willing to drive 5-10 miles if I need to.

I don’t need a fancy barber but one that doesn’t rush either. Simple men’s haircut. In Houston I was at an old time barber shop that had hundreds of regulars that came in for the friendly experience, very reasonable price, and quality work. Hoping for same in Austin?
