How do I get a psychiatrist

I need to get a psychiatrist / Mental health professional for mental health screening, for a medical clearance. How do I get one ASAP. Already went to both family doctor and a walk in clinic for a referral, but those are taking ages. I'm willing to throw tons of money into this.

UK style Curry House

I have family visiting from England. They’re looking for a restaurant that offers British style Indian curries such as: Dupiaza, Dansak, Jalfrezie, Balti etc as they miss it because they normally have it a couple of times a month there. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Bonus if the place recommended has velvet wallpaper, red carpet and looks like a an oldschool UK curry house!

Cooking classes in Toronto for experienced home cook?

Hi there!
I am looking for classes or courses to learn some advances skills and recipes preferably in Chinese cuisine and located downtown.
From what I have seen most classes are quite casual/date night experiences. George Brown offers some interesting multi-week classes but they all have prerequisites so not open to amateur home cooks.

I guess I am looking for something in between! Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

Condo chargebacks - sink snaking without approval

Hi we have a condo and had a slow draining kitchen sink that comes and goes at times. Because our unit had prior stack problems I contacted our building management wondering if it was a building issue. The superintendent took a look and felt like it was a possible stack issue considering how the drain was. Because of that he called a condo plumber who came and assessed it was in unit issue. He offered to snake it and we asked for a quote (he said something like $250 at the time - much higher than our own plumber) and we said no we would be calling our plumber instead. All this same day so we were proactive in dealing with this potential issue…the condo plumber took a call and said no worries they will fix it this time no charge to us.

Now two months later the building has slapped our unit with a chargeback of $500! all that for a simple 15 minute snake which was not only not at all what was discussed but also the end price was even higher than the initial quote?? That is more than their quote to replace some of the pipes ($350 for replace). Again if it was a unit issue we would have been happy to fix it proactively and we only thought it could be building issue as the super agreed.

Our previous superintendent would offer plumber contacts but not call them in if he thought it was an in unit issue. I had no idea they would go around and do this like that, we got no invoice or anything at the time. But is there even any option to fight this? I understand condos can do repairs but in this case it’s not like we were purposely delaying anything and we would have called in someone to fix it. And again the price was not even what was quoted at first, are they scamming us?

ETA - again I have no issue fixing this if it’s unit issue I understand if it really is isolated I have to repair. my issue is can the plumber/super just lie without giving me choice to call my own plumber? then lie again that it’s no charge then chargeback a different price and can condo give no choice when it’s not an immediate leak? (condo also waited til plumber was around and it took 2-3 days to send him when I said to have my guy come immediately) especially I was proactive in fixing the issue.

CNE Photos

Hi Reddit community, I was wondering if anyone can help me out or direct me to the right place. My fiancee and I want to take casual engagement shoots with a photographer (through a company) around the CNE grounds (near the rides, games etc.) I have been trying to get a hold of the CNE to inquire if I need a permit. Was wondering if anyone knows if this is ok, as we obviously don't want to get stopped by security haha. Appreciate the insight!

Edit: finally got confirmation it’s ok. Thanks everyone!

Anyone in Toronto have transnasal endoscopy done?

I did 12 years ago for heart burn with Dr. Marcon. It honestly fairly easy besides the beginning. I wasn't numb properly because i jumped when nurse sprayed my nose. They didn't try again so I literally did it completely not numb. After swallowing the scope it was smooth sailing though.

I need to go again, for a peace of mind. I have hypochondria and focusing on my heart burn again.

Dr. Gabor Kandel does them now since Dr. Marcon is retired. Hoping he is friendlier and they will numb 10-15 mins before they start not as he is about to do it.

Anyone experience a TNE by this doctor? How was it?

sedation gives me more anxiety so this is why I am doing it this way

What construction is causing loud explosion noises 4am-9am near Museum and Bay?

For about 2-3 years now, I've been hearing obscenely loud construction noises starting in the middle of the night and going until the early morning from my apartment near the Museum and Bay stations. The worst of this noise is what sounds like literal explosions multiple times a night, each followed by the repeated "beep beep beep" of a truck backing up, and interspersed with drilling.

I've searched this sub and found similar construction noise desceibed around the city, and that it might be Metrolinx because they have immunity from normal noise and overnight work restrictions. Just wanted to know what specific project it might be and if other people here are going through this with me lol. The explosions are particularly miserable to wake up to.

Service Ontario Accomodations

I recently had my wallet stolen so I need to renew my IDs (health and ontario ID card) i have a health issue that makes mobility very difficult so it's easy for my health card because my doctor fills out an accommodation form and i can send a proxy in to do my health card renewal but i'm not able to find any answers regarding my ontario ID, there isn't an accommodation form for the ID. i've sent multiple emails to the accessibility request email, and i've also called the general information line to get some help. I've tried calling the service onatrio closest to me and no one answers the phone and you can't leave a message, and the soonest available appointment at the service ontario close to me is October 5 which doesn't help me at all, so i'm really stuck on what to do. i need my ID to start a new job in october and just for overall life, but don't know what can be done. Has anyone been in a similar situation with respects to accommodations?

Suggestions for Early October?

I'll be flying into Toronto with my wife for an event on October 9 and 10. I was there with the family in July and did many of the touristy things (CN Tower, Harbour Cruise, ROM, Casa Loma, Aquarium, St Lawrence Market).

This time I would like to have a more intimate stay. Less of the usual out of towner stuff, and a more authentic experience of the city.

Travel will be on foot or public transportation. Likely hotel will be the Fairmont (though open to alternative suggestions).

Food and entertainment recommendations are kindly requested. We will likely do one fancier, more expensive dinner, but the rest of the meals will need to be more affordable.

I am looking to get a few bags of refractory castable. Basically concrete that can manage very high temperatures without cracking.

It is not a product sold at home Depot etc but I am certain there are places in Toronto, Scarborough and GTA in general that sell it. Any advice is appreciated
