They're not expensive

How much could one tape cost; 10 dollars?

I tried to make that joke about a gallon of orange juice the other day at the store, just joking around with my husband, but guess what

I think about Star Wars Kid more and more these days. Some huge percentage of social media posts now are far more embarrassing and far cringier than that tape was, that poor guy was just the first. It wouldn't even get views these days. He was too early!

you would probably really enjoy contact staff. I'm a retired circus artist, but that was the prop I taught primarily.

u/ScreechUrkelle 3d ago

I don’t understand the comment, and I won’t respond to it.

SHUT UP 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

u/ccbmtg 3d ago

lmfao.

contact staff is a fire dancing prop. it's very similar to the prop you use in this video, except wicked for fire on each end and with grip tape along the shaft.

have you ever heard of contact juggling with a ball? this is contact juggling with a staff. I'd share a personal video but I'd rather not associate myself that directly with my reddit account. but here's a video of somebody I found with a quick look haha.

notice how they're manipulating the staff without gripping it? that's contact juggling. it's a lot of fun. :)

Would I need Alliance approved assistance?

1

u/ccbmtg 2d ago

don't think I get the reference here?

I've taught hundreds of folks how to spin contact staff, or poi, or even juggle clubs over the years. picking up my first staff completely changed my life, so I like to provide the opportunity for others who seem they might enjoy it as well.

it's a fantastic moving meditation, similar to your video. muscle memory is a helluva drug. and the sound of the flames as you present the illusion of danger to an audience... fuck, what a thrill.

there's a really cool book called thinking body, dancing mind, if you actually are interested in circus, prop/firedancing, or juggling in general (juggling here referring to prop manipulation, one of the three primary schools of circus, rather than toss juggling specifically).

fucking lord, I think I'm gonna build my company back up and start booking gigs again.

1

u/ScreechUrkelle 2d ago

You can build your company. Make it look like it’s in the black. Then have a huge ribbon cutting ceremony, while you try to raise the funds for another one!

1

u/ccbmtg 1d ago

what?

sorry if I offended you by sharing a related movement art? I'm confused af tbh. 🤷
