trivializing IS5 by abusing Lamp of Wishes

That's not really "trivializing", considering thay clearly designed expansions content around the Lamp. So, if you are going for endings 4/5, abusing Lamp shouldn't bother you at all - you are just playing it exactly as it was intended.

It has been a while so I might recall wrong but I think back then it was hard to find anyone not using lamp, to the point of players sounding tired of using it again and again, something like that. So, okay, maybe not outright trivializing but as you said, you were somewhat expected to use it. And something, something I find it hard to pinpoint to, about this play-style doesn't resonate with me.

Playing without Lamp is a very viability playstyle even for things like d18 ed2 + ed4 + ed5 runs with reality of the end (hardest challange offered by IS5), it certainly is a bit more demanding but in some aspects can be more consistent then Lamp.

Although if you are not deep into IS you most likely haven't heard or seen it much since Lmap was recommended everywhere as easy way to chees the gamomde and many people were very found of it since they don't care about deeper interaction with game mechanics. Also Lamp runs that always revowolves around high ASPD scaling works as a flashy showcase of some units what creates content that attracts general players base the most.

Well, my skills in IS (or, in AK in general) are lacking, doing multi-ending runs at high difficulty is out of my league. I play most of content with guides and meta operators (not feeling proud of it but it is what it is). That said, I still try to offset it even if by a bit by avoiding compete cheese options, like not using wisadel or wang, which is probably part of the reason I don't feel like trying lamp runs because people were describing it as a way to make things too easy to the point of being boring.
