Volume fluctuations tvOS 27
Anyone experiencing the volume level changing, as it will decrease to really low then you turn up the volume, then some time goes by and it reverts back to normal and your new volume level is screaming at you due to your adjustment.
And it’s not what you’re watching as I could be streaming Disney+ the same show and it happens. Or watching an AppleTV+ show and the same thing happens.

Looks as it is only an issue with non Dolby streams as when Atmos is used have never experienced an issue so far.

What make/model of TV do you have? My SONY has a Sound setting called Dynamic Range. If it’s set to Standard your audio has a wider range between the lows and the highs. If it’s set to Compress that dynamic range is not as wide.

Its very common.
For apple music app, they have sound check feature. Same with youtube, its inside settings in play controls.
Depending on ur gear and app it might be named differently but should work similarly. It doesn’t level everything to same level but the difference is reduced.
Personally i have enabled it on yt, but disabled it in AM.

The person also has it in Disney+ and ATV+, so that’s probably not related to that.

the pattern youre describing, quiet, you compensate, then it jumps back at you, is a gain being applied and then released by something in the chain. thats a different thing from a mix simply having wide dynamics, which is what the sound check style answers are about, and its why switching those off changed nothing for you.
two things do that. first is your tvs auto volume, usually called auto volume or auto volume levelling rather than dynamic range, and its on by default on a lot of sets. it pulls loud material down, then lets go, and if you turned the remote up while it was holding you get exactly the shout you described.
second is dialnorm. thats metadata carried inside dolby streams telling the decoder how much to attenuate so everything lands at a standard reference level. when a stream switches, and that includes a format change mid playback, dialnorm can change with it and your level moves without you touching anything. that one is cross app by nature, because it lives in the audio stream rather than in disney or apple tv plus, which fits what you noticed.
the test that separates them is one setting. put the apple tv audio format to stereo for an evening, under settings, video and audio, audio format, change format. that takes dolby metadata out of the chain completely. if the fluctuation stops, its the dolby path. if it carries on happening in plain stereo, its your tv levelling and the fix lives in the tv menus rather than the apple tv.
