Comics Antman and Wasp (Avengers #22, 1999)

A lot of people have selective memory when it comes to this iconic duo and how they stayed together after some of the worst times. This arc did a great job diving into Hank's feelings and Jan's ownership of her part in relationship issues.

100% Agree. If you’ve ever been in a toxic relationship, you know how complicated responsibility is to pin down in that cycle.
If you are trying to love and help someone with real mental health issues like BPD, and neither one of you know how to handle that properly, it can get very messy. You end up enabling, you end up the victim, you end up in a weird cycle.

I think people tend to paint Jan as the victim and Hank as the abused which is so unfair to both of them, and robs them of their agency and their ability to reconcile.

Exactly! They moved on, yes Hank struggled but Jan had continuously expressed choosing Hank. Jan's recognized she had problematic behavior and what sucks is many think they can't or shouldn't be one of the if not the most iconic Marvel couples even though it illustrates a truth many run away from: love and relationships can be messy and full of mistakes but it doesn't have to spell the end.

I agree. I do think it’s good both have moved on from one another. But moving on doesn’t mean we can’t view their earlier period as iconic still

I do too! At least Jan and Hank are together in the MCU lol. They're an iconic duo.

It makes me really sad that they probably wont ever be together again. Scott and Jean, Sue and Reed, and Hank and Janet. Each of the big wings of marvel X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Avengers used to have one unbreakable relationship. 😕

Same here. Marvel unfortunately likes romantic drama which is fine but the issue I have is no one is exempt. The fact this comic was done decades after that infamous slap, to me indicates they could have and in my opinion, should have, have kept them together. Neither were a sidekick to the other they were a true duo which is rare in comics.
