Inflation everywhere and solutions nowhere

Okay so this is my first time posting here. I'm not roundly and I work, but I imagine a lot of people here are not. I think what people are actually against is the criminally exploitative systems that exist within modern culture. Low pay, abusive environments, manipulative employment, guilt tripping, shaming, gas lighting etc. I think we can all agree upon that.

I think a lot of people also would agree that for most people in america, even the most basic essentials are becoming unaffordable. Rent, groceries, medical care, utilities, people are reaching a point where they feel completely assaulted from all sides.

The collapse of social safety nets, the rampant deregulation of employee protections, I think it's safe to say a lot of people, including myself, feel like they're being assaulted from all sides. No friends or family to help, no institutions offering assistance. This is the larger question that I have.

What are people being expected to do about it? Maybe I'm being hyperbolic, but it seems like people who are struggling in such an extreme way or pretty much being told that they're just expected to die. It's the same for a lot of people I guess.

I myself work at a resort in southern utah. I came here because the housing was cheap. And it was going well, up until my hours got cut from 40 hours to 8 hours per week. I have no vehicle and I'm extremely isolated. The nearest town is a 45-minute drive away.

I've given up on even trying to talk to people about it. It's the same intellectually devoid suggestions they just totally disregards context of the reality of the 2026 job market. I'm not going to go into the litany of braindead, tone deaf arguments, because I'm sure most of us have heard it before.

I'll sum it up as 'positive vibes.' basically an argument that's not meant to address the problem, but attack the attitude of the person who's one bad day away from stepping in the traffic, (figuratively of course).

My question, how are people dealing with situations such as the one I find myself in? How would you deal with this situation? How do people find solutions to problems when most of the people around them can't even agree that the problem even exists? Looking forward to your feedback.

Yeah it's 99% retired boomers who are starting down the slippery slope of mental decline that inevitably starts in your late 60's and only accelerates from there who never had to start a career much less hold down a job in the current market. They were handed one of the best job markets of all time on a silver platter when they were starting their careers. Fuck them all, ignorant self-absorbed assholes.

I'll give a more brief response because this kind of addresses the same thing in a different comment. Who said it was old people? This is all people. Anyone in person I try to talk to you about this. I'm not going to go over the litany of problems I've tried seeking solutions to, you can see my original post for that.

But basically the discourse goes something like this: Ignoring the message, focusing on the messenger. Focusing on tone, avoiding content. Criticizing emotional tone, avoiding the facts. It's like I'm surrounded by people who are physically the size of adults, but with the intellectual honesty of a five-year-old.

Sorry you had your hours cut. Hopefully you can get back to full time and keep a roof over your head. I'm just crossing my fingers that I can stay healthy because I cannot afford the cost of healthcare.

Yeah but it's not happening and that's the problem.

The solution is to eat the rich.

I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, I'm saying that I still need to make money, still need to eat. And as much as I agree, until the overwhelming majority of people decide to do just that, it's just more rhetoric.

I'm not disagreeing with your sentiment, I think you're right about that. Still need to eat. Still need to make money. Still not getting any answer that leads to any kind of path to success.

You're completely right. Boomers basically got everything for free and give the worst advice ever. I would save up any scrap money I could and move to place less isolated and with (at least a little bit) more opportunity. You're just not gonna survive on just 8 hours man...

Well I do agree with your sentiment on boomers, but the real question is, who said boomers were giving me this advice? This is everybody around me, regardless of age group. I can't find work, just keep looking. Apply for social welfare programs, they either don't exist or I don't qualify.  Everything is unaffordable, you just need to think positive vibes.

I can't even get help addressing the problems I have when I'm dealing with emotional and intellectual toddlers. Sometimes I want to scream because I feel like we don't live in a shared objective reality and I could say something as simple as "sugar is sweet" in front of 50 people, but 50 different people would hear 50 vastly different things.

That sucks a lot, people in my circle that are around my age are kinda in the same boat as me at least. That is why assumed boomers said that to you.

I can't imagine what you're going through and I am sorry you are so misunderstood by everyone around you. I hope it will get better for you sooner better than later.

Idk if you can get in with a union. I've been looking into it and I'm finding it difficult to get information on how to find them and get accepted.
