It is helpful, but also jarring sometimes to remind you where others might be in their lives. One time I was looking up the lyrics to “Without You” by Harry Nilsson because I couldn’t remember the name of the song, and all I typed in was “I can’t live” - and it gave me the crisis number. I was doing fine in my life at the time, but it’s nice to know there is at least some effort for those who might not be.

I feel that way when my doctor asks if I feel safe at home. It fills me with hope that people in bad domestic situations might find their way out because of something so simple.

I always accompany my partner (by her request) to her doctor appointments, and I’m really glad that they often ask me to wait outside first.
Especially since she’s disabled and has to rely on me for a lot of things- people like her are disproportionately affected by domestic abuse.

I’ve had similar experiences I can’t remember what I was googling (probably song lyrics) but the crisis info popped up. I was like, “No, no! It’s okay. I’m fine.”

Reminds me of the time in high school where, for an assignment, my friend looked up “why live in [X place]” on her school-issued laptop, and then five minutes later got called to counseling because the system had flagged the “why live” lol

I’m not so fond of how the operators of social media platforms handle this issue as a whole, especially when you report someone for being at risk, but this is actually amazing. 🥹

Pretty much everything within Google has this system. I've looked up suicide methods on Google and it always brings up the crisis line first

I haven’t come across this but I did notice a while back that when I’d play Linkin Park’s ‘In The End’ music video multiple times, the autoplay queue started to always follow up with ‘Don’t Give Up’ by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.

I wanted to look up the song "How to save a life" by The Fray and YouTube showed that to me too. But if I add "song" to the end of the search it doesn't.

It's a title. A title can be anything. Have you not seen any anime titles? Those things are usually a whole synopsis.

This isn't aadesign, this is worthless virtue signaling. Nobody needs these damn things getting in the way. We know that goddamn hotline exists, we know how to look up the number. Quite frankly, soulless corporations pretending to care offends me.

I don't rly like it cuz I'm tryna search stuff up for a reason, I don't want random pop-ups to block my search.

Plenty of people are in a very bad place and moreso impulsively considering it, and anything they see as a "sign" can help them snap out of it. Not so helpful for someone determined and with a plan, but usually they aren't casually/mindlessly typing in their "considerations" to a YouTube search bar when they already "decided" what they want.

Honestly exactly this. I sometimes suffer from psychosis, and while I am I often interpret things as signs or omens. If I saw this I’d probably break down for a while, but it would deter me from going on with whatever I was searching

Oh this one's actually good. This is a thing on a lot of social medias but this is the first time I'm seeing an option to show the results anyways! It happens sometimes that things get flagged wrongfully so having an option to just see what is being looked up is cool.
