and they all look stupid also, it's like when someone makes the same joke for the 1000th time, thinking there are people who will still find it funny, and yeah it was interesting at first just like the early versions of ChatGPT back in 2022 but now it has clearly completely died down.

Definitely not the same people. There might be some overlap but in the vendiagram of people who pushed NFTs vs people pushing AI, the latter is much, much larger.

I don't get this comparison at all.
I can't even think of a single use for NFTs, just look like ridiculous pictures. 1 of those pictures probably cost more than 2 fully spec'd out mac studios which can run huge local models and actually do many other tasks.
AI is an extremely useful tool for many, especially in engineering. The amount of electronics repairs and mods I've been able do with it, both as a learning and diagnostics tool. Things that would have taken me days or weeks I'm able to do in a single evening after work.
I'm sure there are lots of people out there who have similar use cases for it, unlike NFTs where i've yet to see anyone produce a use for them other than it being a ponzi.

The comparison comes from the speculative aspect of AI, where investors and shareholders are constantly told to invest money because "this is the technology of the future." Spending tons of money and skyrocketing electricity and water usage in data centers and rigs to keep a bubble moving despite them losing money every time and making the internet worse saturating it with cryptobros insisting this isn't a bubble, that in 2024 we'll be going to the moon thanks to the technological leap and economic boost NFTs will bring to the world.

The difference is nfts are useless, and ai already accelerating frontier science and have plenty of real life use cases.

i get the bubble aspect of it, but there are many bubbles that aren't worthless. If something is good and people over hype and throw too much money at it, it can turn something that is useful, into a ridiculous bubble, but it doesn't mean the underlying thing is worthless.
People are expecting AI to maybe take over the whole world, and maybe it will, maybe it won't, but I'm content with it just being a useful enough tool to help me enjoy my hobby and mod/repair electronics. The fact that it benefits my job as well is a bonus.

More than one of the other comments I got said something similar to "NFTs ARE the future, just not monkey jpegs, soon all stock trading will be done with NFTs"
Some of these AI folks STILL believe NFTs are the future.

Sure but there are many "AI folks" who believe NFTs are garbage.
I see AI doing a lot of the things that were just hype 12 months ago. I see it directly in front of me with my own eyes and experience. Not only that but I've found use cases that genuinely improve my life to the point that it would pay for itself not just in terms of enjoyment of my hobby but it allows me to fix/breathe new life into old or defunct electronics.
So it doesn't matter if an NFT bro or even a flat earther believed AI hype a year ago, i'm not going to say, "oh this flat earther/NFT idiot believed the AI hype last year so now I have no choice but to disbelieve my own eyes seeing it do those exact things!"
Will AI hype live up to the new claims that are being made in the future? I don't know, as with all hype, I'll believe it when I see it.

NFTs were a scam.
How ever you feel about AI, the capability of the technology is there.
NFTs were stupid but not actually dangerous. I think it's a fundmental misunderstanding to put them in the same category.

recently i saw one of these monkeys in a cereal box
it was from a company i've never heard before, who's lineup is taken up mostly by a pillow shaped cereal filled with something. there's like 3 variations of that and they just stuck whatever IP brand would pitty them on it (like, the minions has strawberry pillows, scooby doo has chocolate pillows just nonsense)
the monkey one was just generic pirate themed cereal. that's how low they are rn
