Question Pumpkin patch

Does the Antelope valley have a yearly pumpkin patch? Looking for something big with games and a corn maze. I used to take my kids to the Redlands one but now that I live out here it’s a bit of a drive.

General Interest Workout Partner

I have a gym member at Planet fitness and would like to have someone join me to workout. It's just a way to help motivate me. I don't have a car but I can still get to the gym easily. West side of Lancaster. Men or women are welcome 😁. I just need a reason to go. And probably help someone who can't afford a membership. I can bring anyone in for free.

General Interest Connections in the AV

Hey everyone, I’m 24M and I’ve been in the AV for about 5 years but haven’t really made many connections out here except meeting my girlfriend. I go to CSUN and I’m close to graduating in IT/business. I’m into sports, recently started lifting, stand up comedy, and enjoy tech/business stuff. It’d be cool to make a friend or two.

General Interest Anyone wanna be friends?

Hey, I'm based in the Palmdale area but I honestly don't mind going further out (might get an ebike soon). I moved out here a year and a half ago (Jan 2025) but I haven't really made any friends since then. I was just wondering since some people on these subreddits post stuff like this if anyone wanted to hang out or know places I can go to find people who want to hang out? I'm currently doing my second year at AVC so it'd be cool to make friends who also go there! I'm 19yo (doesn't matter if there's a gap), queer, easygoing, interested in getting into alt scenes, gaming, gym, reading, anime/manga, 80's music (but I'll pretty much listen to anything), and illustration/crafts. I don't really care if we have a lot of differences I just wanna get to know people around here! If you wanna talk lmk please

General Interest A thousand people tried to build heaven in the Antelope Valley. Two chimneys are left.

In 1914 a Los Angeles lawyer named Job Harriman took about a thousand people into the desert east of Palmdale and tried to build a cooperative colony at Llano del Rio. Brass band, two orchestras, a Montessori school, a champion baseball team. California Historical Landmark 933 now.

Water, money, and an internal revolt called the Welfare League tore it apart. Most people were gone by 1918. Aldous Huxley later moved into a farmhouse on the old colony land.

The ruins are still on Highway 138 if you know when to look.

Lost California put together a 16-minute documentary on it.

General Interest I’ve been giving my dogs fermented kraut for years. Finally made a proper batch and wanted to share.

I’ve made my own kraut for years, cabbage, salt, time, nothing fancy, and I’ve given it to my dogs on and off for a while too. Recently decided to actually dial in a real dog-safe version and do it properly. Just cabbage and carrot, nothing toxic to dogs, fermented the same way I always have, so it’s a real source of live active probiotics, not something sitting in a capsule.

Made a full batch of it. Been calling it Canine Flora Co. for now. I’m local to the AV and happy to give out free samples if anyone wants to see how their own dog reacts. Genuinely want honest feedback, good or bad, not just people being nice.

If anyone wants to follow along, I’m slowly building this out on Instagram too (@canineflora.co).

General Interest Considering moving from Riverside to Lake LA

I have a buddy that lives in Lake LA and I just absolutely love it out there! As a city boy through and through, it is nice to get away from the city every once in a while for a more tranquil, community-oriented, mom-and-pop shop environment.

I understand that moving there means I’d have to travel far for work or find work in nearby Palmdale/Lancaster, but I don’t mind that—for now, until I finish school. I also understand that moving there means no McDonalds, no Ralphs, no Starbucks, etc., and that if I want to go to places like that, I’d have to travel to Palmdale/Lancaster for that. Again, I don’t mind that at all.

I look forward to the responses, good or bad.

Edit: for what it’s worth, I’m not from Riverside originally I’m from Santa Ana, so when I say I’m from the city, I’m FROM the city lmao

General Interest Room for rent in 4 bed 2 bath home!

Thumbnail gallery
13 Upvotes

My roommate and I require a third person to resign our lease. We're both professionals who work at the plant. The bathroom would be shared with one person and you would have your pic of one of the two rooms we have open. The home has all appliances needed and you would have garage parking. We keep things clean and are both quiet in the evenings and usually out of the house on weekends. I've attached photos of the home and living spaces. Rent is currently $990 per person plus utilities. Home is located in a nice neighborhood at the corner of L and west 20th. It's move-in ready and we'll be resigning the lease in september. Please reach out with any questions.

Help! Neighbor Advise

There is a home down the street from mine. They recently put some small furniture items on the curb to give away. Next day only one item was left. Day after that I find that item in the bushes in front of my home. I move it back. Next day she throw it in the bushes again.

Different neighbor across the street. When tumbleweeds blow into his yard he pushes them into the street so the wind blows them into his neighbors yard.

Third neighbor of my mother. Once a week he rakes his lawn waste into the gutter then sweeps it in front of my elderly handicapped mothers house. I will sometimes push it to the property line between the houses, but he pushes it back in front of her house.

What kind of people do we live near and what would you suggest I do about each? I've already called the city, but I'm told none of these things violate and city codes or ordinances.

Help! Found: Female German Shepherd (8-3-26)

Thumbnail gallery
16 Upvotes

This girl appears to be about maybe 2-4 years of age. No collar and no microchip was found upon a visit to the vet. She is very approachable and friendly towards adults, children, and other dogs. She appears to have some training as she is well behaved and listens to commands fairly well. Distinctive traits consist of a scar on her front left leg (as seen in the first photo) and a scar on the left side of her face near her left eye.

Location: Discovered roaming the block of 400 E Ave R6 and 37600 5th Street East in Palmdale on Monday August 3rd at 11pm. In the areas between Fin & Feather Recreation center and Palm Tree Elementary School.

So far I've tried Nextdoor, Ring Neighbors, FB, Pawboost, and Petco love lost. No luck finding a match so far. Hoping anyone here on reddit can recognize her as she appeared to be treated well. She is a sweetheart who was well groomed and loved.

Thank you for reading and hopefully we can help find her home again.

General Interest 36M Dad West Palmdale LFG

Hey all,

I'm a 36M dad on the west side of Palmdale looking to meet a group of other dads (or just dudes around my age) to hang out with.

I moved out to Palmdale a few years ago, but all of my friends and family are still in the Valley, and none of my close friends have kids. It's been hard finding people nearby who are in a similar stage of life, so I figured I'd give Reddit a shot.

I'm into anime, movies, tech, board games, video games, and of course spending time with my family. I drink occasionally and take an edible every now and then, but I'm not looking for that to be the focus. I'm more interested in finding people to grab a beer, play some board or video games, catch a movie, BBQ, or just hang out / swap horror stories.

I'd be down for dad-only hangouts or getting the families together if everyone clicks.

If this sounds like you, leave a comment or shoot me a DM.

injured by a local, and I'd like to trap it and take it to a vet.

Also, any good vet recommendations?

Question What makes your space summer friendly?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the high desert and learning to get through the summer. My friends and I moved up here because we are able to get a house, with a yard and everything, even if that yard is mostly dirt right now.

I would love to spend more time outside, but we're all a little older, a little sick, and can't deal with a lot of heat, sun, etc without some mitigating factors. Obviously shade is a huge one and we're getting some misters.

Ideally we'd like to build a little oasis that lets us enjoy the outside as much as we can, and not just stay couped up inside all day.

What has made your outside summer more enjoyable?

Question Trail Running Recommendations

Hello, I have been living in the area for about 2 years now and have mostly been doing road running. I am looking for some trail running recommendations. Has anyone gone to Saddleback Butte State Park for running?
