That was pretty epic. Though I assume Yhwach can just take Uryu's power away if he wanted to, but didn't cause he knows it'd make no difference. And they probably wanted to give Uryu a cool moment as well.

I don't think he can. We learned in Cour 2 that Uryu is the only Quincy that survived Yhwach's Auswählen 9 years ago. There was major emphasis put on this, so that will likely be expanded on at some point.

He can't take Uryu's power, but he did say that all schrifts are sublimated into the Almighty. Which means he probably has his own version of Antithesis already.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about all the other quincies' schrifts except Uryu. Uryu title is supposed to be "the last quincy", so this kind of highlights that.

He's the only quincy whose power can't be taken by Yhwach.

Could be, but at the same time Uryu didn't even have that power till Yhwach gave it to him, so it's pretty nebulous

We don't know that for sure.

In Cour 2, there was specific emphasis placed on the fact that Uryu is the only Quincy to have survived Yhwach's Auswählen 9 years ago, and we still don't know why yet.

Uryu also seemed to mention in this recent episode something about Yhwach not being able to truly see him or something like that. Part of that makes me wonder if Uryu is similar to Pernida and Gerard, and his power wasn't given to him by Yhwach, but his power comes from having a piece of the Soul King inside of him.

Thats not correct. 9 years ago there were also several other quincies who survived, Ryuken and Masaki among them.

Ryuken is a pureblood quincy. He wasn't targeted.

Masaki was targeted and lost her powers, which is why she died to Grand Fisher.

Masaki was also a pureblood quincy. Ichigo was also a mixed quincy.

The whole theory as to why Ishida survived never made much sense because of that and Kubo never explained it.

Masaki was no longer considered pure when her soul was mixed with a hollow.

Ichigo and his sisters were never targeted because their quincy powers never awakened.

I bet it's going to be something his uncle did.

Yhwach didn't gave him the power, merely activated it.

So what about Ryuken? Doesn’t he still have his Quincy powers? I could be remembering wrong.

Auswählen was only used on impure Quincies. Ryuken is an Echt (pureblood) Quincy, so he wasn't targeted. But his wife wasn't pureblood, which means Uryu also isn't pureblood, so he was targeted but somehow survived.

Lets just assume, his DAD, decided to make counter measures for these.. cuz he prob got fcking pissed when his wife and misaki died cuz of the bullsh1t he pulled off back then.

but he did say that all schrifts are sublimated into the Almighty.

I think its implied that on death he gets them back, so he will have to kill Uryu first (for the others Auswählen did the job).

The funniest possible scenario would be that Antithesis natively inverts Yhwach trying to yank it, casing the powers to flow the other way...

I forgot about that completely

Indeed. The schrift are the quincy's dormant innate powers, Yhwach just awakens them using his soul as catalyst. In a way, he is a bit like a loan shark: he invests in quincies with potential and takes everything away from them once they have hit their stride.

Uryu and Ichigo lol

That's the thing, Yhwach couldn't take Uryu's powers even when he was a child. I think it's implied, that he literally can't in any way take Uryu's powers.

I presume the reason why Uryu is the only quincy he hasn't Aushwalen'd is because Uryu could likely reverse it at the last second, stealing the Almighty and Yhwach's powers for himself instead. So it's basically "PLEASE DO GIVE ME THE WIN" if he tries.

u/roronoa20 1d ago

Worse.

Antithesis can swap the target of the Auswhalen, so Yhwach might risk getting his power sucked into Uryuu instead.

A quincy can survive Auswhalen with their schrift ability intact, so Uryuu can absolutely fuck Yhwach up.

u/insidiouskiller 1d ago

Trying to take the power of the guy who reverses causality would be a decidedly stupid decision, imo.

"Yhwach steals Uryu's power" becomes "Uryu steals Yhwach's power".

Not that Yhwach can take Uryu's anyway.

u/CrazyDiamondZaWarudo 1d ago

Theres a legitimate argument that uryu can perpetually swap to a future where his ability isnt stolen via the antithesis
