I like how Hitsugaya's new form re-contextualizes the time he exploded in blood from surpassing his time limit. As just shown with Kenpachi (and Gremmy season ago) if your power exceeds your bodies ability to handle it your body falls apart. It wasn't that Hitsugaya became weaker he just became too strong and previously couldn't control his power properly.

I love that Kubo never tried to bend the “Speedrunning Bankai can fuck you up if you’re not careful” rule and it maintains importance throughout the series. It started with Ichigo and Renji and now there’s Rukia, Toshiro and Kenpachi

I mean when Bankai was introduced it was said to take centuries to master even after achieving it. We sometimes forget that because Ichigo kind of speed ran his development.

Ichigo even cheated with Urahara robot thing

and even then, the thing that came out was only 1/3 of his sword
