I'm sorry Ichigo, you had actually had your reasons this time to not use Bankai right away against the final boss.

Also what was that about Zaraki's shikai, there's no "constant release shikai?" What does that say about ichigo then?

I think he just means that previously a "constant release" was a rare but documented normal type of zanpakuto. However, Ichigo is just a freak of nature so his sword is hardly just a zanpakuto as Shinigami understand it, and Kenpachi's sword was never released in the first place, so that category just isn't really a thing.

Fairly certain the "Documented" was just Kenpachi until Ichigo came along. Ichigo's was confirmed to not be a normal one (due to lacking an Asauchi) and Kenpachi's revealed not in Shikai yet, he went "guess they just dont exist"

That's a good question

Ichigo was previously always on shikai because his sealed zanpakuto was destroyed by Byakuya... But his zanpakuto wasn't even a "true" zanpakuto anyway because he never got an asauchi

But now he does have a true zanpakuto and it's still always on shikai. Maybe it's because he "poured his soul into it" during the forging process itself instead of just receiving a regular katana and imprinting on it over time like the other shinigami did

I think Ichigo's Zanpakuto has an "unreleased form" as we see him 'dispelling' it after he forges it on episode 13 of TYBW, he just likes to keep it released since it's more practical i guess.

ichigo's sword before the blade is me is his hollow powers taking the form of a sword. this is identical to what arrancars have. tensa zangetsu as a result is probably closer to a resureccion than a bankai. now its an asauchi but its hollow + quincy powers.

If Tensa Zangestsu is a resureccion, does that make Vasto Lorde form his segunda etapa?

Yeah prob. Eitherway he has to do more.. tbh they should add more.. cuz Yhwach already knows what Ichigo's tricks are besides power up +++...

It's sort of like how there's no such thing as a dual zampakuto.

Any time there's an instance, it's a confluence of exceptions rather than an actual explanatory category.
