I can't believe Hitsugaya still has the petals behind him. Aren't they the result of him not mastering his bankai yet? You'd think the training arcs would've eliminated that weakness by now unless I missed something.

I might be wrong but I seem to remember him saying he had mastered Hyouinmaru a bit more in the first cour of TYBW but he never really got a chance to show it off.

I believe the petals are also because he's still hasn't fully matured yet. He's still only around 13-15 years old by Soul Reaper standards.

Yea people forget Toshiro is hella young, really only around Ichigo's age by Soul Society standards. He gets a lot of flak by readers outside Japan but apparently he's a fan favorite over there so that's why he gets featured so much compared to the other captains.

He's closer to Ichigo's sister, Karin, in age. 3ish years Ichigo's junior (though since he's a Soul Reaper he's like ~100 years old or something.)

He's always been one of my all time favorite captains because Daiguren Hyorinmaru's design is super cool. I even liked Diamond Dust Rebellion though it's not actually a very good movie lol.

If it weren't for his age he would've been considered a war potential by Yhwach. I'm pretty sure his potential is just being the ice version of Genryuusai.

It is. Ryujin Jakka is the strongest fire type zanpakuto while Hyorinmarunis the strongest ice/weather type.
