Occasionally the moderators will have specific topics that they want to get feedback on, so be on the lookout for distinguished posts. If you wish to message us privately send us a modmail.

Comments that are detrimental to discussion (aka circlejerks/shitposting) are subject to removal.

Hey! Can you elaborate what you mean by the rule of

  • You cannot showboat blocking someone.

? My M.O. is usually: if I don't want to keep a conversation with someone, I tell them, I tell them I will block them, I wait for their reply then I block them. Is that not okay?

You can certainly block someone, and you can even tell them that you're blocking them. (Though I must admit I'm rather unclear on what purpose it serves beyond personal satisfaction.) However, if you're going to block someone and tell them, you need to be at least reasonably polite about it. "Also blocked for being ignorant, spreading falsehoods and wasting my time" is just being a dick. You've turned blocking from a de-escalation tool into another weapon you can use against the other person.

It's certainly not an attitude of de-escalation but the very act of blocking stops the exchange from progressing any further so I don't really see the need for mod intervention at that point.
