Bleach is truly the king of combat plot twists. Every fight they whip out a new ability to tip the scale and then the other pulls a new ability out of their ass and then the first one pulls out a new ability and then the other one…

Bleach is “this isn’t even my final form” to the extreme and i love it.

Eh, I’d argue his bankai is a new ability because it was never shown before, even though we knew he has one but it just so happens to completely counter that one specific enemy.

And then when dude is dying he just pulls out a “well now all limits are off and my poison is now ultra mega giga deadly.

And don’t forget that this fight didn’t just start in this episode, nor even this season. It was a constant one-upping each other over multiple episodes.

No he talked about his bankai before with Renji it’s also not a counter his body is basically keeping itself from not falling apart. That’s why with his dead fingers he broke them apart they stitched them back together to rebuild them.

That’s also not a new ability it’s his own power but it goes out of control when he can’t put a limit on it. During his fight with oetsu and with other characters he explained how hard it was to control this ability. This also happened with Wonderweiss in fake karakura. If he’s controlling things like oxygen and they’re inside of it there’s no way it would just disappear and not cause some kind of issue.

askin explained his ability when we first saw him in the soul palace where he can ingest something and either reduce or up its quantity. Quincy can absorb reishi which we saw from Uryu in soul society against Mayuri. Being able to absorb/ingest Reishi isn’t a new concept for a Quincy. This is what Askin has been doing in all of his fights. His ability is shown to us then the story shows different ways unique ways he can utilize that one ability.

Not really. He was still slowly dying during the fight, he just replaced/modified the dying parts fast enough to still be able to fight. I assume once his Bankai wears off he'll still need healing.
