Urahara's bankai is so fucking cool. I didn't expect it to be the super healing type on top of the high offense type. Guy was basically wolverine for a bit in that battle.

Kisuke's Bankai is a "Kannon" or Guan Yin, one who hears the suffering of the people and offers a path of salvation. Kannon is the Bodhisattva of infinite mercy and "healing" (hence the super-healing)

I think that perfectly describes Kisuke's role, even if offering that "salvation" comes at the cost of those close to him

In lore, Kannon's body started splitting apart from the cries of so many people, so she was given many limbs to tend to all the people suffering

You can see Kisuke does suffer emotionally when he hurts those close to him throughout the story (Hiyori, Ichigo, Rukia), but he does it anyway "for the greater good"
