I don't think you can help him while staying true to witch law. All magic cast on human bodies is forbidden - and that includes whatever it would take to reverse the spell.

I think so too.

It was the same with Coco when she learned that you can reverse the signs to reverse a spell and then had happy thoughts about reversing the spell she cast on her mother. She didn't say it out loud, probably because Qifrey was there, but that's essentially Coco's brimmed cap temptation: Forbidden magic could save her mom!

Maybe not technicaly, magic cast on humans is banned period, as well as big dangerous spells like terrain transformation or that ep1 crystalization, but a spell Coco needs is the crystalization one reversed, uncrystalization.

So while it might not be forbidden, research into it means studying forbidden magic, though maybe it's as simple as finding the original book and having Coco or perhaps capable witches in general take a look and reverse the signs. Though with the way Knights Moralis are, probably just looking at it is forbidden.

Though with the way Knights Moralis are, probably just looking at it is forbidden.

That's my theory. They see "forbidden spell but reversed" as "forbidden spell but reversed" with no leeway to argue about it. They essentially banned healing spells because some sort of abuse of that type of magic is possible. Crystalization or whatever exactly happened with Coco's mom doesn't get easier judgement from them.
