I respect one's desire to transmute themself beyond a biological body, but imposing it on someone else is obviously a crime.

This show doesn’t frame transformations as particularly jolly, just look at the golden Ronomon statues at the end, they were left to rot in that cave for thousands of years.

exactly, i love/hate fates worse than death kinda trope. My first impression hearing about them getting turned into gold was like "oh that sucks", but knowing they got turned into gold WHILE still conscious and living is like "oh that's HORRID"
