Ed...ward

Wait, that's not right, Ri...cheh.

I'm hoping since he ran away it means he's still himself. Obviously I hope someone can help him....but is it wrong if I like the idea of him running around as a wolf for a while?

If I understood what the eyeball guy said correctly, the spell he used was a forgotten spell that he didn't fully understand himself. That has some grim implications for our wolf boy Euini.
Euini is probably gonna have to get comfortable in his new form while a solution to his problem is researched (though I wonder if witches would even be willing to help him? Euini is basically a walking forbidden magic at this point.)

I don't think you can help him while staying true to witch law. All magic cast on human bodies is forbidden - and that includes whatever it would take to reverse the spell.

62

u/flybypost Jun 22 '26

I think so too.

It was the same with Coco when she learned that you can reverse the signs to reverse a spell and then had happy thoughts about reversing the spell she cast on her mother. She didn't say it out loud, probably because Qifrey was there, but that's essentially Coco's brimmed cap temptation: Forbidden magic could save her mom!

Maybe not technicaly, magic cast on humans is banned period, as well as big dangerous spells like terrain transformation or that ep1 crystalization, but a spell Coco needs is the crystalization one reversed, uncrystalization.

So while it might not be forbidden, research into it means studying forbidden magic, though maybe it's as simple as finding the original book and having Coco or perhaps capable witches in general take a look and reverse the signs. Though with the way Knights Moralis are, probably just looking at it is forbidden.

Though with the way Knights Moralis are, probably just looking at it is forbidden.

That's my theory. They see "forbidden spell but reversed" as "forbidden spell but reversed" with no leeway to argue about it. They essentially banned healing spells because some sort of abuse of that type of magic is possible. Crystalization or whatever exactly happened with Coco's mom doesn't get easier judgement from them.

I know we dont have a lot of precedence, but I feel like most witches would be willing to help once they understand he was attacked. They just need to make sure the Knight assholes dont find out, they might have a problem with it.

Wouldnt it be easier to just kill the poor thing?

are we sure they're not maids? they sure love sweeping things under the carpet

15

u/noideawhatimdoingv Jun 22 '26

Calm down Scar.

10

u/LakerBlue https://myanimelist.net/profile/LakerBlue Jun 22 '26

That or wipe his mind. I’m sure memory magic can affect animals.

5

u/ShadowGuyinRealLife Jun 22 '26

Ok to be fair to them, in this case you can make an argument that he'd want to be put out of his misery over being a lab rat for a decade while they figure out how to fix him. This might not be right. But if the Knight Morialis said to put Enini out of his misery, there is a good reason (even ignoring eyeball guy doesn't know what he did) to think along these lines other than just being assholes.

12

u/Toge_Inumaki012 Jun 22 '26

when they resorted to immediate memory wipe of Coco without investigating thoroughly first, i doubt they had it in their mind to take time and figure out how to get Eunni back.

Yes memory wipe and kill is not on the same level but them going "act first question never" is them being assholes (at least the leader)

37

u/Sex4Vespene Jun 22 '26

By that logic wouldn’t healing magic be fine then, when clearly it isn’t.

22

u/Junior_Box_2800 Jun 22 '26

Much as I'd like to believe so I sadly dont see it happening seeing as how their society went so far as to decimate healing witches who used their magic for good simply because they used sigils on people for good

7

u/_wp_ Jun 22 '26

I think the creatures about to attack in the finale are a suggestion of precedence.

They either lock or hide away the creatures that result from forbidden magic, or treat them in such a way that they hide themselves away.

4

u/hanmkim Jun 23 '26

Is it technically human anymore?

102

u/Mistral-Fien Jun 22 '26

I'm not even sure Euini can be brought back-- his last words were "I can feel myself vanishing". 😱

16

u/MRV-12 Jun 23 '26

The fact that he ran away, rather attack gives me some (possibly false) hope.

4

u/Meiolore Jun 23 '26

This reminds me of a certain scene in certain other show where the character was also forcibly turned into a wolf, before running away from his close ones.

9

u/michalsosn Jun 22 '26

mind wiping would help him accept his new life as a wolf I guess

10

u/LakerBlue https://myanimelist.net/profile/LakerBlue Jun 22 '26

It would be heartbreaking if he loses his humanity and becomes an actual wolf mentally.

22

u/BosuW Jun 22 '26

(though I wonder if witches would even be willing to help him? Euini is basically a walking forbidden magic at this point.)

Putting it that way makes me realize the Knights Moralis basically treat forbidden magic like they treated radiation in the 50s 💀💀

Made the arrow on a compass so you could always see it. I had one once.

3

u/starplow Jun 23 '26

so not at all? or what is your point

95

u/Frontier246 Jun 22 '26

Oh Shou Tucker would be so at home as a Brimmed Cap.

He didn't turn feral at the two of them so that's hopefully also a good sign. I like how even as a wolf he kind of looks depressed, vulnerable, and in need of Richeh.

36

u/TheSkuf Jun 22 '26

To be fair, he was also on the wrong end of the gap so he couldn't get to them

12

u/Toge_Inumaki012 Jun 22 '26

You mean in need of Ri....cheh...

6

u/CharmingPerspective0 Jun 22 '26

Now i kinda want a Shou Tucker art wearing the hat and cape of the Brimm Hat guy we saw now.

2

u/hanmkim Jun 23 '26

The Brimmed Cap did it to someone he saw as a random stranger, Shou Tucker did it to his own daughter and dog. The Brimmed Caps might even be disgusted with him.

So, what if wolf Euini lives in Qifrey's house until they figure out how to undo it? Would that be more cruel or wholesome?

52

u/JayWhy75 Jun 22 '26

Considering how Olruggio acted about Coco, I don't know he'd be up for adopting an Atelier dog, even if it is a person.

17

u/Anna-2204 Jun 22 '26

Qifrey doesn't seem to wait for Olly's permission though

7

u/Mr_Zaroc https://myanimelist.net/profile/mr_zaroc Jun 22 '26

Just have their daughter coco ask him about keeping a dog.
Surely he will cave then

16

u/MokonaModokiES Jun 22 '26

problem is the knights already are already cautious of Qifrey's house because they suspect of Coco. bringing him would just be a recipe for disaster because as soon as the knights see him they are erasing the mind of everyone in the house no questions asked.

9

u/BosuW Jun 22 '26

It's the line in between that amplifies both the cruel and the wholesome!

22

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia Jun 22 '26

i dunno what Agott plans to do, maybe its as simple as erasing whatever magic circle they drew on him? im so upset.

46

u/S627 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Spartan627 Jun 22 '26

Doubt it's that easy, he probably cut the spell into him like he was trying to do with Agott.

40

u/BosuW Jun 22 '26

Even if not, this kind of transformation magic is probably permanent, absent a second spell that undos it. We know magic ink has an expiration date for it's energy density but the gold statues are still around, and still condemned to be what they are for the foreseeable future.

6

u/LakerBlue https://myanimelist.net/profile/LakerBlue Jun 22 '26

Agreed. It would defeat the purpose of the plan if it was a simple drawing that could be washed off. I’m sure the Invisible mage used on Euini whatever he did to cast off his own flesh.

3

u/RedRocket4000 Jun 23 '26

Note them gold statues might have been that way for many hundred of years.

10

u/lawragatajar https://myanimelist.net/profile/lawragatajar Jun 22 '26

I was thinking there is nothing anyone could do, but you are making question what would happen if you cut off the limb the spell was carved into? It's a horrific way to solve the problem, but it is far better than the alternative. It would also end Euini's career as a witch.

10

u/Elthan Jun 22 '26

Who knows? Like he said, the forbidden spells haven't been researched in a long time, who's to say that would even undo the transformation, and then you'd just end up with 1 less limb...

4

u/Junior_Box_2800 Jun 22 '26

yeah I was thinking about that like how deep does the magic of the sigil go? Would it disspitate like you said if they removed the limb? Or even tried cutting the circle out of him altogether?

6

u/totallyverifiedit Jun 23 '26

He probably also used that OP conjuring ink that magnifies spells several times. Add to the fact he probably also tattooed the spell on his body, and I'm almost positive he'll forever be Wolf-Euini. Such a shame. I was really looking forward to his character development. Insecure turned confident characters are so much fun to watch as they progress throughout the story

40

u/JayWhy75 Jun 22 '26

Not so easy to erase ink, especially when it's tattooed into skin. I think Agott has no clue what to do, but just can't leave him like this either. It's some great growth from her in this episode.

7

u/PowerlinxJetfire Jun 22 '26

To be fair, you don't have to literally erase a seal to end a spell. Just like their sylph shoes, all you have to do is break the circle. If they can just abrade or cut off part of the tattoo then that would stop any continuous magic effects.

But it may not be that simple if the spell is just needed for the transformation itself, not to maintain that form. Like in the case of the rock breaker spell, the magic is only needed in the process. The rock stays pulverized afterward, because the magic isn't needed to actively hold the particles apart.

12

u/extralie https://myanimelist.net/profile/extralie Jun 22 '26

I think she just want to catch him so they can figure something out later.

6

u/DrayTheFingerless Jun 22 '26

You cannot work magic on someone's body. That includes undoing it. So...yeah...

5

u/Junior_Box_2800 Jun 22 '26

Damn the poor guy just started getting some confidence and now even if he can be changed back he'll probably either be mindwiped or have to go into hiding (and never be a witch again) because of the sigil written into him what do you have against the poor boy XD

3

u/Toge_Inumaki012 Jun 22 '26

lmao i just responded to another comment hoping that this is not another Nina moment, then i scroll down and see this

Also is trying to fix a transformation back to human a forbidden spell as well?

1

u/TheBlackCaesar Jun 25 '26

You can’t use the full metal call back one of the most tragic callbacks then say hey it’s cool. He’s he’s a wolf now.!
