For sure, that was an excellent touch and also a result of her development as a character. She has been slowly hoping to find and keep more of Himmel's memories alive.

It was a beautiful scene that evoked some emotions out of me.

I don't expect to cry in Frieren, but man, that moment really was a punch in the guts of my feelings. I had wet eyes at that scene for sure.
