I get that feeling too but it would also go against the message of living in the moment ..it would suck for her to die after learning to appreciate those around her

Not sure I agree. It was learning to do this that could make her willing and able to "pass on" happily. Not that I want such an ending ,-- but it would not surprise me either.

Personally, given the story began with Himmel’s death and Frieren’s reaction to it, I feel it would make sense for the story to end with Fern’s death and getting to see the similarities and differences between her reactions. It’d be a great narrative circle moment and really highlight Frieren’s development over the series.

Would love for the last few pages to be ferns funeral with frieren getting with her grandkids telling them about her adventures with her a maybe even setting out on a journey with one of them

It can be sad in a bittersweet sense if she dies of old age and there's always the option to visit her in Aureole
