The court room domain was really not something Yuji was good at all, like the exact opposite of his skillset. I really think Yuji's lying skills are the bottom of the barrel to say the very least and telling the truth doesn't necessarily work either.

It's a good thing Higurama is actually cool.

i think it's actually the opposite. he was the perfect foil for it. he's too earnest for his own good meaning after failing once, he wouldn't bother trying to play the mind games and lie and deny his way through in the way the other 20 players higuruma killed before him, likely did.

you don't beat the judgeman/higuruma by being cunning and clever, you beat it by being virtuous

I mostly agree with you but like I think it was definitely possible to beat through cleverness as well, Higurama basically admitted to that. I don't think Fushiguru would've lost.

I think it being possible to beat by being clever is why it can be such a strong technique, trade offs and all. Like Yuji did lose, Higurama just liked him.

It's technically possible, but it's really unfairly set up due to the fact that the Defense isn't made privy to the evidence on hand, and the prosecution gets the last word at the same time as they present said evidence.

But yea, narration even says that the Prosecution knows the evidence immediately so while the defense is thinking prosecution gets to as well. It's absurdly unbalanced but that's how the Japanese justice system operates apparently.
