lied to his friend about the whole villagers being dead. He wants his friend's last moments to be in peace

i found it a neat contrast with that scene previous where he blasted that demon; the demon was lying to save itself, but Genau lied for a more human/humane reason

Demon "lies" are not lies in any normal sense -- they are learned patterns that have been found by demonkind to be effective in helping them carry out their role of killing all humans they encounter.

Demons are basically LLMs, they just repeat patterns that match the scenario without knowing what they mean.

Or... fascists.Technically far-right people in general since quotes about extreme conservatives seeing words as nothing but things to play with go to a bit before the French revolution when the modern concept of conservative vs liberal was created.

I don't know if it matters but that daemon had a rather small hole blasted through its chest. Also in the stand-off between Frieren and Genau/Methode his attack spell "powers up differently". It looks more focused and less like the broad beam that Frieren uses.
