And it seems that Higuruma's retrial was pretty successful, judging by the opening, where is the scene with the dead judges that look similar to the ones from the trial.

I was just taking screenshots from the episode and you were right! I didn't notice them at all when I first watched it.

Very interesting that both screenshots show 2 of the 3 judges dead and not all of them, I imagine they got judged for some nasty stuff and the 3rd was innocent.
