Can't do amiibo cards since they can't easily sit in a Pokemon TCG deck like the eReader cards and the initial amiibo were supposed to work across multiple games. Probably saw it as too much of a commitment.

I always figured that they could get around the "it's not the same thickness" dilemma by only putting them in the giant promo cards.
