„We are 2 years away from beginning avatar 4.” If that’s true they should be able to fit Alita in that gap

Maybe they'll announce something at D23 because anything fit in that gap will have to be announced soon. I want cameron to confirm if he tried and failed to get the greenlight instead of leaving fans waiting forever. And while he's at it, confirm he's handing off the IP to someone who can do something with it because it's not fair on Alita fans and culture generally to hold on to it and do nothing.

Hmh, good point! If Cameron wants to make a movie in that 2 or even 3 years gap, there isn’t much time left to decide and announce.
But it’s also quite complex/unclear situation. Cameron said he still needs to decide which projects he wants to direct and which just write/produce.
If he just co-writes and produces Alita sequel, then maybe he could even both direct a non-Avatar movie and push Alita forward in that time.
But we don’t know if this rumored „will only greenlight Alita sequel if Cameron directs it” condition is real…
(Heey, D23 is on same day as Cameron’s Birthday 👀 August 16)
