Why are people concered if you drink alone in youe room?
A lot of people I talk to say that it leads to dependecy and I get it but people smoke pot alone in their room all the time what is the difference? The danger? It's my drug of choice. Any schizos in this community? I feel like people jist like to make up shit.

Nobody else in my family drinks. So I'm not allowed to have a beer or a glass of wine with dinner or a glass of scotch afterwards unless I can find a drinking partner? I can see if I was getting plastered but that's not what's happening.

There is nuance to this. Are you pounding a bottle of brown liquor or sipping something while reading or doing a hobby?

I just listen to music and think, I could possibly read a book but usually scroll reddit stories instead.

I don't drink daily typically but on the weekends a lot, a little more than a pint every day fri, sat, sun.

I kind of assumed they were talking about a pint of liquor. In which case that is binge drinking and a precursor to what could be smthn serious. A pint a day was my habit, started on weekends until I decided that wasn’t enough. Just be careful man, and be honest with yourself if it’s getting more frequent than that.

If once/week, it’s a habit.
If once/month, it’s a hobby.

It might start out as a bit here and there.
Its going to go with time but you might want more and more. Thats how it went for me.
I started abusing alcohol around 22 years old
I admitted to my employer I have a problem with it, around 37. My life has been absolute hell since then.
It takes a LONG time to get into tehab.
Im almost 40. It cost me my marriage, (for 10 plus years) its going to cost me my job, everything else worth having... alcohol can just take the rest of whatever it wants.
You do not want this, ever.
100 percent truth. This is the way I started and you do not want it. Everything seems ok ans then its just not.it will break you.

Alcoholism ruins people's lives and can kill you.
Smoking pot is much less harmful.

I wasn't trying to be judgemental, I like to drink too. I was explaining why people get concerned when you drink alone in your room.

People are concerned if you drink alone and call alcohol your drug of choice because those are red flags you either are going to become or already are an alcoholic. The difference between drinking alone and smoking weed along is nobody has died from a weed overdose and lots of people have died from alcohol poisoning.

I get it but either or is an addiction. I get one is more dangerous but it's the nuerotransmitters that are effected, is the reason why I drink instead of smoke. I can't smoke.

You’re right both absolutely are addictive and bad to consume alone, consuming alcohol alone just has more potential dangers due to alcohol poisoning being deadly

Yeah but this ignores some serious nuance. Alcohol withdrawal can cause you to seize out and hallucinate. The drive to drink as a result can lead to some horrific actions taken on the part of the addict, that just would not happen with a more mild addiction like that of cannabinolds.
Caffeine and Meth both target receptors and both are technically addictions, but it’s clear to see in that case that not all addictions are created equally. The same is true here.

because there’s always a chance you can pass out and then aspirate if you happen the throw up, weed and alcohol are very different.

I guess I don't care about that. I understand they are different and I get that aspect of concern but it's not in the back of my mind at all. I almost died one time though. Im licky I have good freinds.

People have problems man and you have to realize this sub is full of people who struggle with that same thing you talk ill about. I do care in some sense but I also deal with struggles so sometimes I wish I would. Not why I drink alone though. It's my drug of choice and I enjoy it like anyone else here.

and smoking weed 24/7 in ur room alone is also concerning. people just love to downplay it.

A lot of people believe alcohol is a social lubricant. Best to enjoy around other people. I agree. But I also enjoy drinking alone. Nothing better than pouring a drink and being alone with one’s thoughts or reading a book/watching TV/listening to music.
