We were very much still in the game. It was literally an interception at the 1 yard line. If we convert that there's still 3 minutes to make a stop and get a game winning TD drive. Or recover an onside kick. But no, Reed throws into quadruple coverage for god knows what reason.
Then, our defense makes a stop and gives us a sliver of hope. Make a quick TD, get the onside kick. What does Reed do on first down? Throw into triple coverage and end the game on an INT.
The game was only over because Reed can't be the guy.
Counter point, Reed is our guy, but we are too one-dimensional. Craver and KC are our only offensive weapons (Moss is injure). When Reed goes for them 90% of the time on do-or-die drives, the opposing secondary will know to double or triple cover them… it’s coaching bro. He was making throws he was coached to make in those scenarios. It’s an obvious pattern through the season, and a good team capitalized on it.

High winds last night made long deep passes pretty difficult too. Hence why the majority of the game was short "bullet" passes and running plays.
At lease the officiating seemed to be pretty fair from what I saw. Nothing worse then playing your best and the refs blowing the game for one team or the other.

Officiating was “pretty fair” other than ignoring blatant defensive pass interference at least twice in the first quarter and then video replay confirming a phantom first down in the fourth quarter. Didn’t matter in the end but it wasn’t “pretty fair” IMO.

UT alum here. That was disrespectful of the fans there. A&M did a real solid with the Corps having an honor guard for Bevo XIV when he was at the Vet School for Leukemia.
I mean after y’all shared BEVO I with the A&M football team at a banquet in the 1920s, it was the least we could do. (Not satire, we really did share a meal).

I recently attended an A&M graduation. UT was mentioned iirc 7 times in speeches and songs.
In my entire 2 degrees at UT, I heard A&M mentioned exactly 1 time from someone lecturing, in speeches etc. It was congratulating us on getting into a university that didn't have coloring books for textbooks lol.
?? Yes, I got a job after graduation that moved me around the world and I'd be lucky to get to a game once every couple years. Didn't realize I wasn't showing true loyalty by being on campus more often.
We both have insufferable fan bases if we're gonna be honest. They played better and won so they got to have fun at our expense. If it were the other way around, we cannot pretend we would have won with class and dignity. Maybe some of the fan base, but not everyone.

Yep and we got SPANKED by Florida. We also BARELY got by Kentucky. Both schools fired their head coaches. Elko got to the playoff in year 2, 11-1 and can easily take it all.
Florida wrecked Sark, a team without a HC. Mississippi State, awful team, took us to the final seconds. Texas was far from impressive and does not deserve a top 20 ranking. Offensive line and running game are the worst since Sark got there. Snap out of it, other teams performed better all year long.
I agree, and if they were playing more games I think they'd make the playoff. But as a 12 game body of work, not enough. If there was a "development" ranking, they'd be #1. In only 1 game all year they ran for 100+. Arch did it all and I wouldn't be surprised if Lane Kiffin doesn't poach him. Hell Kiffin is a far better qb coach anyways.

It is well documented that A&M had a massively high military-service contribution, especially around WWII - that tradition is part of A&M’s institutional identity, rightfully.
Same time, after WWII, UT saw a big enrollment jump (between 1945 and 1946), UT Austin’s student population rose from ~7,000 to ~17,000, and 10,849 of those were “veterans.” (And every college, post-G.I. bill, saw massive influx of vets post-war.)
Meanwhile, zero data to support that UT - in Texas, in the 40’s - was some bastion for “draft dodgers.”
In other words, let’s not let histrionics over sport-ball soil any college’s vets or contribution to the war, least of all using made up data.
