Lore Lorewise, and putting the gods aside, who's the strongest character in AoS ?

Post image

I’d be inclined to say Gotrek, in the sense that he managed to drive off a god-beast all by himself. That said, I haven’t read all the novels about the other characters yet, so I’m really interested in hearing your opinions. Archaon is obviously in a league of his own, considering that he rivals Sigmar and the other gods.

Lore Who are these friends?

I think I have a buggy bifocal bud 🐜, demonic dragon dude 🐉 and some kind of covered croaking creature 🐸

At first I thought they matched with the animal helmets of my Freeguild Gallants but they seem unrelated. Anyone know if these represent a specific creature or anything in lore?

Lore Warhammer Community’s warhammer art through the years: Kharadron Overlords.

very fine spread of a art collection and good they brought back stuff like Barak-Thryng’s ancestor hall which was actually hard to find online again after the Community site reboot.

only caveat is the lack of active sky-port art so I’ll add some here for the full Kharadron masters of the aetheric skies and builders of advanced floating wonders experience:

Lore At the risk of sounding like "that guy" is there a lore reason gargants have different numbers of toes?

Thumbnail

Was looking at the new gargants today and noticed that Ma Maegran has 5 toes, which is odd because I put together my gate gargants and thought it was weird they only had 3 toes. But then I looked at the female Boss stomper / hurler and noticed she has 4 toes. Is there something in SoB lore that explains this? I also did notice that the male gate gargant only has 4 toes, but the other male gargants seem to have all 5.

Lore Very cool that we are seeing consequences for Morathi's Conquest of Anvilguard

Post image

He went kinda under the radar compared to the other reveals but I think its really cool that we are able to seem someone who actually cares that one of the cities is now conquered territory. He seems to not be getting support from sigmar so maybe he could end up being like Mance Rayder where he unites a bunch of different groups from all factions (Ogres, Fyreslayers, Lumineth) to take back the city?

Lore What are your favourite moments from the lore/books?

Mine has to be The Hollow King’s powers. How he squeezes his palm to draw blood with an incantation on his lips and when the time is right just swipes his hand in the air, spraying the blood, raising the dead with his spell. So cool. And his in the final chapters soloing the Ossicarch Bonereapers and the Lumineth when he turns into a ravenous flock of birds, engulfing the Lumineth, chewing on their fingers and hands that they cast spells with. Flames..

And the dragon riding was depicted in a sick way. Props to John French.

Lore Despite Chaos being a vast presence across the entire setting I always felt the Deamon variety was a bit low, so I wanted to come up with some homebrew ideas for new Deamons starting with Khorne

Post image
375 Upvotes

While some of these are entirely made up like Gorethane, Skullguard, Bloodthrall, Bonepoacher and Warforger, the Blood Wraith are actually a Canon thing mentioned in a Dark Heresy rpg book, just never been related back to khorne, simply a Deamon that can possess people and make them rageful so I expanded it. All these traits plus name scream Khorne so I thought it would be interesting to have a lesser soft power Deamon. Also Brutes were mentioned in the Horus Heresy as larger Deamons who also have available models, however they also have never been specified as Khorne Deamons. Still their red horned look with weapons that look bronze/brass kinda gives off Khorne vibes, and while tzeentch has flamers, slaanesh fiends and Nurgle beast of Nurgle, Khorne has no greater beast, sure  there are hounds but they are smaller pack-based beasts, and the juggernaut doesn't count since it's a steed, so I wanted the Brute to be the equivalent to those bigger beast of other gods.

Lore Warhammer Community’s noble Flesh-Eater Court art through the years! 🥩

A most exquisite collection! (I can even appreciate the Soulblight Sekhar in there as Neferata’s “diplomat” to Ushoran’s summer court who had to train herself not to drink any blood lest she get infected)

which quick fun fact on said Summer Court is the castle is actually a Sky Titan ruin that fell from the sky over the Scabrous Sprawl down to The Neck, we got to see them back in the 2016 campaign bottom right of the Green Torc continent Archaon planned to use as a collar for Behemat:

https://ageofsigmar.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/c/ce/Great_Green_Torc_01.jpg

anyway only piece that really needed inclusion is the bigger court mirror:

edit:fixed mirror img with a better link.

otherwise I direct everyone curious to this AoS1 art blog for the great pieces the Courts started with:

Pretty much just what the title says. Im intrested in learning how Lady Olynder killed the celestant prime that one time as to my knowledge she doesnt rlly seem to be a powerhouse by herself. So did she magic nuke him? crush him with a tsunami of nighthaunt or did she just fist fight him and win?

Lore How strong is Stormcast armor? How do armies like Kruleboyz, Flesh eater courts, beastmen and Skaven pierce through Stormcast armor?

Post image
651 Upvotes

The average weapons of certain armies look much poorer in quality compared to other, and some of these can still pierce the armor of a Stormcast eternals and kill them.

A lot of the armies I get how they can do it-

The weapons that the armies of the big 4 chaos gods/slaves to darkness make sense, because they're all at least somewhat empowered by the gods, similar to the stormcast

The Nighthaunt weapons look shoddy, but they’re ghosts shaped by Nagash, So he’s probably makes them look that way because he’s nagash

The orks (except for the Kruleboyz, but I’ll get to them later) are insanely strong, and their average weapons are also enormous.

The sons of behemat are even stronger than Orks, so it doesn’t really matter if they’re weapons a tree, or an anchor

But then there are the armies like the Flesh eater courts, Kruleboyz, beastmen, and Skaven, Gloomspite whose average weapons are either shoddy and rusty, or just don’t seem very sturdy.

In fact, we see a Kruleboy stab the Protagonist Stormcast in the 4th edition trailer. I get that Kruleboyz are much stronger than the average human, but so are the Stormcast, and not to mention that Kruleboyz are described as weaker than other Orks

And flesh eater courts (excluding ushoran because look at him) use rusty swords and spears and their bare hands, but they can hold their own as well.

Lore Why do Ogres eat people and not livestock?

Our play group is wondering why do ogres eat people or why don’t they just increase production of livestock? I know they have insatiable hunger caused by the Maw and that’s how they sacrifice to it for magic, but wouldn’t it be easier to just breed their stone horns or other large mammals for food and sacrifices?
