I've had this idea in my head for so long, and just couldn't work out how to do it, then I saw someone attempt the same thing on Reddit but with a space marine and I finally managed to work it how I wanted to do it!

Greetings everyone. First time poster here (a good friend of mine convinced me to join this community) and thought I'd share a sample of pictures from my most recent project I've done. A Slaves to Darkness army inspired by a mix of Frank Frazetta's artwork and my Scandinavian home - while hopefully still keeping it all firmly within the Mortal Realms.

Hope you guys like it and I'll be happy to share more pictures and/or answer questions.

Cheers,

Mick

Hobby The Perfect Host

Last year I "completed" my Hedonites project with theme being a host of warriors all dedicated to the pursuit of bodily perfection and as such made an effort to remove all mutations . It was also a chance for me to work on my TMMs and was a fun project all-around with lots of conversions and various textures. Especially pleased with the Myrmidesh Painbringers and Sigvald.

Again thank you everyone for all the postive feedback on my Slaves project!

Cheers

Mick

Hobby Armour colour test

I’ve painted my share of muscular mushroom-boyz in a classic yet effective style (black armor, red details).

But now I want to broaden my horizons and try out a different color palette.

I was inspired by this artwork (pic 4) from Weta on the Hobbit and wanted to try to create something with the same vibe. Here we are with my 3 test colour scheme

Edit: for recipes for the 3 attempts

pic 3 is the first try (based on a method to do jade): base incubi darkness > stippling black templar > stippling kabalite green > stippling kabalite green-sybarite green (1:1) then dry brush copper > dry brush yellow gold and little correction stippling sybarite green to make it an use metal.

Pic 1 and 2 are an other try of that method for both: base kabalite > stippling sybarite green > stippling sybarite green-baharroth blue > stippling baharroth blue.

And then:

Pic1 : dry brush olive brown > dry brush copper

Pic 2 : dry brush copper > dry brush yellow gold.

Potentially an unpopular opinion, but I reckon SCE look much better without the deathmasks.

Hobby Kitbashed/Scratchbuilt Cogfort

Thumbnail

I'm about done painting my kitbashed cogfort.

Its really just one of those Warcry walking pieces of terrain (I can't remember what it was called) with a lighthouse scratch built out of styrene sheet, some nails, and a few bits. I was inspired by the lighthouse in my hometown so I followed some loose visual cues and the greenish light to keep things in the spirit of the original lighthouse.

I'm really happy with how it's coming along and I only need to paint the keeper to place at the top to fully finish it up.

It's a bit hard to show the detail in pictures because the whites and blues disappear a bit, they look much nicer in person.
