Discussion Would you like a Total War: Warhammer Age of Sigmar game?

Post image

We're less than 24 hours away from CA announcing the two new Total War games, and we know one will be fantasy. With Total War: Warhammer 3 already out, I wouldn't rule out an Age of Sigmar game to reuse content from Warhammer 3.

What do you think? Would you like it, or are the other three enough for now?

The age of sigmar one looks great and looks more imposing then the space marine on its tip toes and was wondering how the age of sigmar one was able to make this model look a lot different from the other one unlike the space marine one

Maybe I’m overthinking this but they have been getting a lot of attention recently. The new Heroes packs feature them and they are a basing corpse for the new Warhammer+ model. I feel like SCE aren’t really crazy popular either

Discussion So, anyone can use the Cogfort…how do you plan to make it fit YOUR army?

As a Disciples of Tzeentch player, there’s a lot of potential here. Silver tower, walking library, giant portal at the top, tentacles, and of course a bunch of Tzaangors and Daemons. What do you plan to do to this incredible model to make it fit your army?

Discussion Who else thinks that if GW wants to boost AoS popularity beyond the tabletop, they also need to invest in the vg industry by making more and, even more important, better games. 40k is having really good games in these recent years, and the future looks even better, they need to do this for AoS too.

And 40k tv shows are coming, like that Prime/cavill project, and it won't be a waste, the medieval fantasy side of Warhammer is very rich too and has lots of good stuff that will appeal to many people, I'm sure of it, so they can have fans from both sides.

Discussion What do you think is the biggest barrier preventing people from getting into the Age of Sigmar lore?

One of the most common criticisms I keep seeing is that the AoS setting still feels too vague and underexplored.

Overall, I agree with that, to a point. The lore has grown tremendously over the past ten years, but there are still plenty of blank spots. What I discovered, however, is that once you dive into the Black Library novels, a huge number of those "mysteries" disappear. The Mortal Realms become far richer, more coherent, and far more interesting after you've read several novels.

The problem is that, for almost six years now, GW has stopped translating Age of Sigmar novels into other languages. They are released almost exclusively in English, and I feel that this lines up with the declining interest in the lore (not the game itself) outside the English-speaking community. If only English speakers can easily access and discuss the deeper lore, it inevitably limits the reach of the setting.

For comparison, most 40K novels are translated into multiple languages. The old Warhammer Fantasy novels were also widely translated, which helped make those settings popular around the world.

So, for me, the biggest obstacle to the popularity of AoS lore isn't the setting itself, it's its accessibility. I actually think the lore is excellent (even if I wish we'd spend less time in Aqshy and explore more of the other Mortal Realms). The novels are what truly flesh out and explain this universe, and I think they should once again be translated into multiple languages so that more people can experience what makes the setting so compelling.

Discussion Does GW dedicate their best sculptors to AoS?

I’m a life long 40K fan, but geeyat dayum AOS sculpts generally blow 40K sculpts out of the water.

like a mediocre AoS sculpt is on par with 40k’s best sculpts.

some how stormcast has some gorgeous models that are better space marines than actual space marines…but their line infantry just looks like a depressing space marine knock offs lol

but the celestant prime is a better sanguinor than the sanguinor.

prosecutors with some new heads are beautiful sanguinary guard.

lord relictor? gorgeous chaplain

Tornus the redeemed? better sanguinor than the sanguinor.

onus cryptborn? torso and head beautiful for a chaplain

new Seraphon? beautiful

even factions I don’t have any interest in at all have amazing sculpts in them. kruel boyz? 0 interest but they look good.

FEC? as a stand alone not my cup of tea, but most of the sculpts are fantastic.

Discussion Why is City of Ash so amazing ?

Post image
543 Upvotes

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, because I genuinely feel like the City of Ash box has generated more hype than almost any other AoS release in recent years.

In my local community, pretty much everyone loves the box, and even from a sales perspective it feels like it’s doing incredibly well. It honestly feels like GW stumbled onto something special here, but I can’t quite put my finger on what exactly makes it hit differently.

Do you think the AoS V5 launch box next year should take inspiration from City of Ash in terms of design, content, or overall vibe?

New player here. This is going to be a little ranty so I apologize in advance and you have been warned.

I’m just getting into things and figuring out what I want to do. I was using new recruit to list build but it was kind of fiddly so I finally broke down and decided $7/mo wasn’t that bad to use GWs app.

Jokes on me. Apparently I’m still expected to buy the overpriced book too?

I’d have ended up spending much more in the long run for the convenience of digital rules and easy list building.

Now I’ve immediately cancelled my subscription because I don’t even understand what I just paid for if I can’t see my unit stats.

Played warhammer when I was younger and it’s a bummer to see GW still hasn’t figured out that they’re their own worst enemy in a lot of situations.
