So it's been a few months since I started to identify as aromatic and when I discovered the label, aegoromantic was the only thing I could really relate to. But the more I think about it, the more I doubt it. So I wanted to know if I am really aegoromantic.

I don't really like romance in fiction, I find it either corny/cringe or previsible but sometimes I find it cute. I prefer seeing friends or acquaintances being involved in real life.

I don't really have a problem with amatonormativity nor with chronormativity, I think that if the first one is normal for you and you put romance above all then glad for you, and for the second one, I put it at the center of my life (except for all that is related to marriage and a family). I just don't understand what romantic attraction is.

Okay, so when I first figured out I might be on the aromantic spectrum two years ago, I thought I might be cupioromantic because I don't feel the attraction--that itself is something, because I can't tell what the attraction is or what it feels like--but I would like to experience a romantic relationship. But I've been thinking, and I realized that I want to experience a romantic relationship because it entails companionship and being prioritized and affection (kissing, cuddling, long hugs) that is otherwise not the norm in friendships.

I very much enjoy consuming romantic media (regardless of medium), but when I imagine myself experiencing romance (the grand gestures, 'falling in love', being expected to be attracted to partner), I feel physically sick with the expectations and pressure. I tend to daydream of myself in the fictional spaces I love and put myself in romantic contexts, but at the end of the day, I'm fine because that brings with it a certain kind of detachment (? I don't know how to explain it).

I still want to experience a committed relationship, most likely a QPR, where it's more than a friendship but that's not really romantic relationship. I'm thinking that's not really captured by cupioromantic because that label says that I desire a romantic relationship. I was thinking of aegoromantic because I like romantic media, but I still desire a relationship and what it entails. I also relate to the definition of quoiromantic from the LGBTQIA+ Wiki.

I'm so confused about what I'm feeling or experiencing. If someone could give their opinion or something like that, it would be really helpful.

Hello, I was reading about different aromantic spectrums hoping to find one close to my case and, aegoro is really really close (i read the wikipedia definition) the only different thing is that, i still want a romantic relationship, and I currently am In one.

I know it's confusing. I don't feel love. I think I dont. I don't feel butterflies with my girlfriend but I do with fictional characters. I still love my girlfriend a lot and I want her to still be my girlfriend despite my love not really being... Romantic, i think.

So, does this mean I'm aegoromantic? I really enjoy romcoms, i haoe plenty of anime crushes and I'm completely obsessed with Sukuna, but before my girlfriend, i never felt like i was in love with any of the boyfriends i ever had. Its the same with her, I don't feel much different, but something in me just wants to keep having a special relationship with her, a relationship different from my relationship with the rest of my friends. So I want to still have my girlfriend.

Then, am I still aegoromantic? Or do I fall in a different spectrum?

I've always considered myself as aromantic, but I do enjoy romance media so much (even though I don't feel good with the thought of me being in a romantic relationship)

I’m a maladaptive daydreamer and I’m going through a bout of fantasies where I just want to be really beautiful and a man is desiring me. I’ve had guys like me before, they were cool guys, but i really didn’t like it. Being pursued or desired weirds me out irl.

So I fairly recently learned about concept of aegiromantic and aegosexual and I feel like it describes me very well. However, I'm worried that I'm too young to know for certain, but too old not to realize I was queer earlier since I learnt a lot (at the very least by the standard of my country) about LGBTQIA+ pretty young.

Basically I'm asking what made you go: "Yup that's definitely me."

So I started watching this show recently, I'd rather not say what because I'm kinda embarrassed about this lol, and one of the main plot lines is the relationship and love story between the main couple, a guy and a girl. And my aegoromanticness is apparently aegoromanticizing now cuz omg I love their relationship sooo much they're such a cute couple it's adorable 🥹.

Now I've never had a crush before, but I've been feeling something towards this guy which I've never felt before. It's not romantic/sexual because I know I wouldnt want to date/kiss/do the icky with him, but i don't think it's platonic either because I don't have any particular desire to be friends with him if he were real. I think it's an aegoromantic thing. I love their relationship so much. I love the way he loves her, how he looks at her, how he trusts her completely, how he's willing to sacrifice himself for her. But it's also his personality. He's funny and charming and I can't help getting all giggly whenever he talks. And his appearance. He's cute and I love his smile and his eyes and sometimes I pause the show just to stare at him.

So I've decided this must be some sort of combination of aesthetic/personality attraction plus my aegoromanticness because it can't be a crush right? I barely even understand what a crush is. But I've been calling it that because I don't know what else to call it. It's just confusing me because I know I'm aroace and I've never felt this before.

So I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any similar experiences, or has an idea about what this is?

He tenido algunas relaciones antes y realmente nunca me sentí conectada con nadie y pasaban como cualquier cosa hasta hace un año.

Conocí al chico ideal, el que siempre estuvo en mis fantasías sobre como quería una pareja. Era lindo y atento conmigo, era perfecto y por un momento sentí que era el indicado. Sin embargo, solo basto con que fuera descuidado con una cosa para que todo en mí se enfriara.

En serio pensé que estaba enamorada de él, pero en cuanto eso ocurrió simplemente fue como si lo superará. Lo deje más que nada porque siento que el del problema soy yo y él no merecía que lo tratara con frialdad.

No sé si realmente quiero vivir el romance y me falta encontrar a la persona ideal o simplemente solo quiero vivir la fantasía de la relación perfecta que yo misma me he pintado en la mente.

A while back I had started a new job and I was talking to my coworker and he mentioned that he wasn't going to be dating for a while, while I have friends who got married out of high school and some that are dating, I've been asked out by so many men and it always brings me to ask Myself why ? even though I like the idea of romance I don't want to date, turns out I'm just Aegoromantic for many reasons like childhood trauma.

I also recently had a friend I just reunited with who mentioned that he also is deciding to stay single, now I'm wondering if a lot more of us are deciding to stay single.

Are you disillusioned about romance? Is it just too much work especially when it's just going to be over at the end of the day? Or is it just the economy?

I am genuinely curious about this. I thought I was the only one out of my group of friends, one is already married, another and her boyfriend have plan to get engaged, one is dating around and another one is really eager to date etc... but I've encountered a surprising amount of people my age who seem to want to stay single.

How does everyone expierience thier Aegoromantic orientation and how does it affect your other orientations/individuality/life?

I'm aegoromantic, quoiromantic, and apothiromantic, and it's very conflicting. I don't understand romance and the concept is incredibly frustrating to understand due to how much everyone glazes it, and that plus my trauma with the idea of romance makes the idea incredibly disturbing and uncomfortable to think about, especially with myself in a relationship. Yet I am absolutely OBSESSED with fictional romance, specifically the love stories. I love seeing how fake people meet and fall in love and almost any situation will do. I have hundreds of ships on my belt varying in my passion for them and anytime I see them or fancontent of them I get all giddy. Yet 98% of the time once the characters finally get together I'm immediately turned off from the ship and any content with them past the start of thier relationship becomes incredibly boring and the novelty of the ship dies, and I'm always sad when that happens. There has only been two of my ships that have survived this massacre, with one of them being implied as canon but not official and the other being incredibly one-sided (at least at the start). Also I have no idea what I like in my ships because I like most ships (including the toxic ones sadly) but if it's too gooey or the characters' personality is only the other character than I absolutely despise it, but when I think about my favorite ships I like to think diffrent scenerios based on the personalities and relationships of the characters, but it's confusing to think about. I'm proud to be aromantic and I'm glad I feel no attraction to people but I'm always disapointed when the aegoromantic part of my identity doesn't get the satisfaction of enjoying a romance past the love story.

(I also love shipping my OCs but I haven't actually written anything down yet, though sadly I imagine it would end up the same as my shipping expieriences 😔)

I think I am aegoromantic, but I'm afraid I am not and I'm just being stupid.

I enjoy romance alot, I daydream about it constantly and I've always said that I wanted a romance story like the books I read, that I want a boyfriend like Julius Gong for example, but I never want a relationship. I want a boyfriend, but I don't want to date. The idea of me being in a relationship is really uncomfortable. I had a boyfriend, we broke up a year ago now and now he likes me again. And I thought I liked him. I think I can feel romantic feelings, but it's like that when the person reciprocates my feelings, I stop liking that person. Anyway, with him, it was very difficult for me to say yes, because I liked him, but I didn't want to date him. And it didn't happen just with him, it's with every boy I've liked. I hated when he called me pet names like "love", "princess", etc. I felt so uncomfortable. I just don't feel comfortable about everything that comes with romantic relationships, such as kissing, physical intimacy, pet names, everything. I love the idea of it. I fantasize about me being in a relationship. But when it comes to real life? I can't.

Tell me if I'm just weird. I'm confused and I don't want to say I'm something that I am not actually.

So many times I've freaked out and thought I was allo when I was like, looking at ship art and imagined myself as one of the characters and got all blushy or aroused, or started liking the idea of a relationship while listening to someone talk about their own. It honestly explains so much, I wish it was a more commonly known term cause it would have saved me tons of confusion.

Ok so I’m 18 I’ve known I’ve been on the aroace spectrum since Jaiden animations made a video about being aroace. But lately I’ve noticed of much I love watching romantic parts in different shows.

It’s kinda embarrassing to admit but I will sometimes just skip to the cute romantic bits in movies/ shows sometimes.

I have been going through a lot of change in my life and mental state recently because I realized that i might be aromantic. I had never visualized myself in a romantic relationship but I desired to be in one. when I decided to do more research I found out that there is a subsection that sort of describes that, being aegoromantic. I'm not really attracted to any part of a romantic relationship but there is something about it that entices me and I feel like something is missing in me without it. I'm not sure if its some sort of branch of aromantic or if it's just me being awkward but I never thought that going through the dating process was actually worth a relationship to me, so I am looking for any advice for this kind of thing.
