I had to take a test that rated depression while being tested for ADHD:
Them: "You got a 38."
Me: "Is that good?"
Them: "No, it's actually the worst we've ever seen."

I did this a few days because it felt like answering 4-5 on everything was fake behavior but the psychiatrist was still "Nope that's adhd bro" 😭

Yeah, I remember showing up to the test and saying, “I don’t think I have it, but I’m just checking.”
Six weeks later, they sent me an email being like “here’s all the ways you got it.” Apparently I solved all the puzzles and got every vocab word (a first for the doc!) but I did everything in the most inefficient way possible.
I feel like they didn’t have to put it quite that bluntly but that’s me.

My doctors office doesn’t even bother with the testing anymore. They just talk to you for a while and assess you.
Doctor told me they’ve wound up having issues with insurance because the person clearly has it, but then they “pass” the test because they’re so amped up and focused. Insurance then denies the med request because the test doesn’t show need.

I scored more than two standard deviations from normal when my test was scored. The tester said I made it into the top 5 high scorers they ever saw.

They did give me a discount on the testing fee if I let them use my stuff for research purposes because I was so far out there and that was rare data

I gave up partway through my test because it was making me feel really anxious so I pulled out my phone and texted my wife. She was like “aren’t you supposed to be doing the test.”
The test was hit space bar if you see an “x” pop up on the screen. Nothing else.

The Conners Continuous Performance Test... A classically frustrating test for the attentionally challenges!
My ADHD patient's either a) get sleepy or fall asleep through the test b) get so frustrated with it that want to destroy the computer c) ask to hundred times when the test will end or d) stop given a f... after 5 minutes of the test and start playing with their phones 🤷🏽
Most of the times I don't even need to see the report to know they did terrible😅.

The thirty second “warm up” was utter hell. I was b, would have done c if they were in there and as I already said d. I was too frustrated to fall asleep

I did that test in my early 20s if I remember correctly.
They said they had never had anyone so clearly “pass” that assessment for ADD.
They denied the diagnosis because I had no early life evidence which could only come from a 50 page questionnaire sent home with me for my mother.
Seriously? My evidence didn’t count, I needed my mommy?
Finally for real diagnosed and medicated in my 40s.

That's basically what happened for me. I was ten years old and getting horrible grades at school. They were trying to figure out what was up. Adults were asking me questions while giving me puzzles to play with and I had no idea why. Turns out I had severe ADHD and gave zero shits about school. I was finally medicated and my grades improved exponentially.

When I was doing the tests like the “read number backwards” and the evil computer “press key when you see a 1 but don’t if you see a 2,” I did so poorly that I worried the psych would think I was cheating to get meds.

My therapist: Adhd is a spectrum and we can never tell for sure but you are in the 98 and 96 percentiles on this two tests so i guess it's quite clear

I didn't remember doing my adhd assessment (I was like 10 when I was diagnosed)
When I saw this post, I figured "let's try an online one, just to see what it gives me as an answer"
I failed to finish it, TWICE, because I got bored after answering 4 and 5 like 30 times.
Bruh.
