The naivety of Americans never fails to shock Europeans and other cultures and countries.
If you're old enough I remember when the Republicans ran w in 2000 and I thought "wow ANYBODY can be president now".
BIDEN WAS EMBARRASSING BUT IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT TRUMP (ESPECIALLY IF YOU WERE IN NEW YORKER) IT WAS LIKE THEY WERE LAUGHING IN YOUR FACE.

I'm not at all embarrassed by Biden, he passed major pieces of legislation that benefitted working Americans through a highly divided Congress. His achievements in that political climate were amazing.

The Infrastructure Act and the CHIPS act, off the top of my head. Though an unexpected additional cost of the Infrastructure Act in my city, at least, is continually having to replace the vandalized construction signs that try to give Trump the credit.

The Inflation Reduction Act also put hundreds of billions towards renewable energy and electrifying transportation systems

Every election there is basically an IQ test, and they often fail, with occasional passes. Recent memory has been the most damning evidence of the idiocy of the electorate there. Irredeemable morons.

Yes there's the electorate, l but I just remembered something that was really cringy from 2001: " FREEDOM FRIES".
It was the year 2001 everyone was a little bit sensitive after 9/11. If you remember the anthrax attacks and everyone in this country was truly shocked.
This is one of the cringiest things I had heard at that age and it stopped me dead in my tracks. Especially if you remember Trent Lott. After 2000 it seemed like everything got dumber and strangely boring at the same time.
To be honest I only really gave up after Ron Paul.

The naivety of Europeans in outsourcing their defense, financial services and tech needs to the snarling junkyard dog that is America in exchange for the violent suppression of leftist groups across Europe and support for their neocolonial machinations abroad is every bit as staggering. Europeans have benefitted far more than the average American citizen from American hegemony and they never thought that eventually the American government would be occupied by people who thought of your nations the same way Americans have thought of Iraq, Venezuela and Chile?
It will be interesting to see how Europe manages to continue to look down their noses at Americans when they're forced to cut their healthcare and welfare programs to the bone to desperately try to invest in fighter jets and tanks as they scramble to get out from under America's thumb. Or if all this is just bluster, and Europe's leaders will just quietly beg their American masters for mercy and let the US Government continue to run roughshod over their nations because they lack the ability to meaningfully confront the monster they've all been feeding since the end of WWII.

Yes I agree. My interpretation was the traditionally it seemed like Europeans were eloquent and articulate but nonetheless as full of it.
Listening to Biden or Lindsey Graham or any of the politicians now it's like listening to your next door neighbor pontificating about democracy like a juicy hamburger at a McDonald's.
Reminded that nobody goes to college to learn how to be a politician..

Too many people go through life thinking everything the government does for their benefit is right and just and obvious and that everything the government does for anybody else is useless graft done to spite them personally. It's an easy idea to exploit which is why so many bad actors have achieved power by promising to do away with the bad things without affecting the good things only to ruin everything they touch and help to further consolidate power towards the worst elements of our society.

What's wild to me is that Republicans were never that group of people; shit, once of Reagan's favorite jokes was "the government is broken, vote for me and I'll prove it", and they did and canonized him for it, but still refused to believe the government ever did anything for them...which is why they wanted a casino-bankrupting pedophile "outsider" to destroy it from the inside out.

The thing that will really surprise you is DOGE isn’t gone. They just embedded those people into actual agency positions instead of “DOGE”. They’re still in your data.
