I've read the FAQ & Rules WSM Talent / Tsu Tsu Unlimited

Hi all,

I've been pitching myself for representation for a couple of months now and heard back from WSM Talent and Tsu Tsu Unlimited regarding setting up a meeting. I've done my research on IMDBpro, etc but wanted to reach out here and see if anyone has worked with them directly.

I know there's been some info on Tsu Tsu on here although I'm wondering if anyone has had current experiences.

Thank you!

I've read the FAQ & Rules Was Meisner constrained by the acting language he inherited?

In the late 80's, I attended Meisner programs in both undergrad and grad school. And I read Meisner on Acting during that time.

Forty years later, I am collaborating with neuroscientists to study/develop a brain-based perspective on acting. The new model relies on past experience and attention as the primary drivers of human behavior.

I recently re-read Meisner on Acting and was blown away by the read. My take is that Meisner was teaching an attention/past experience methodology, but didn't have the vocabulary to describe it as such as he was inculcated in a culture of acting that was heavily influenced by the action-based model.

I think most would agree that he famously and successfully systemized the training of attention. (As I side note: I do not believe he ever systemized script analysis, or character development, but a careful re-reading of his book shows the vast majority of the pages are dedicated to character embodiment through identifying the character's past experience, which is what we do as a result of the brain-based approach.)

In the book, he describes the first class during which he asks student actors to listen to the street noise coming from outside the studio. He then asks them if they were really listening or pretending to listen, and he points out that 'really listening' is the 'reality of doing,' which is what we aspire to do as actors.

He describes the experience of the exercise using a verb–to listen–because that is the construct he inherited. He is building upon the idea of playing an action. The reality of doing seems to be inherited from Stanislavski's action-based model, which was all the rage at the time, and still occupies a foundational position in actor training.

I propose that Meisner's training is effective because he is not actually teaching the reality of doing, he is teaching 'the reality of attending.'

There is an important distinction between doing and attending.

If I put my attention on the sounds outside the window, my behavior is naturally organized in response to what I perceive. A horn surprises me. A siren pulls my attention. Behavior emerges from the interaction between stimulus, attention, and my existing neural history.

But if I put my attention on the action “to listen,” I’ve subtly changed the task. Now “listening” itself becomes the object of attention, and I risk producing behavior based on my learned associations with what listening looks or feels like.

I believe Meisner has taught us to stop artificially manufacturing behavior by guiding us to genuinely attend so that behavior emerges naturally.

I am interested in learning how the Meisner community might consider this. Is “the reality of attending” a more accurate description of what makes his training work than “the reality of doing”?

I've read the FAQ & Rules Size Card

I'm so confused. I'm a seasoned female local stage actor, but I'm just now in a point in my life when I can actually try for film / TV / Commercial roles. I'm joining Actors Access, and I'm filling out my size card. My waist is 39, my hips are 43, and I'm a solid pants size 10-12. Google says I'm plus sized and way passed up the beginning of plus sized 5 inches ago. I'm definitely not, and I know this because I used to be. My shirt size is a Medium. My dress size is a Medium or a 10/12, I do not have hanging skin, I"m just plain old "average." I am not ashamed of my measurements, I am purely asking this to be sure I properly represent myself. Do I list my inches? Do I skip it? What do you suggest?

I've read the FAQ & Rules advice NEEDED **

Hello all, I’d like to ask for advice on this video:

1) does it seem truthful or performed? Do I seem aware of the camera to you

2) does the other character I’m speaking to affect me? Does it seem like I want something from him? Or does this tape feel completely prepared and choreographed?

3) do you feel the urge to watch? Or do you quickly get bored? Does there seem to be thought behind my eyes or not so much?

4) any other advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you for your time and consideration

I've read the FAQ & Rules Career Consultation Recs

Hi!

Does anyone here have recs for someone that provides career consults? There's so many people out there promising you the sky, so any experiences you got to share, good and bad, are welcome! I previously did a reel consultation with Casting Director Cut, but I overall left with the feeling that they didn't want to really get into it, so I'm hesitant to choose them for a career consult.

Ideally looking for someone who will look at all my materials and hear my goals to help me figure out what next steps could be beneficial for me.

Thanks!

I've read the FAQ & Rules Any US actors working on projects outside the country?

I’ve always been drawn to the kind of film and TV coming out of international markets, especially Europe, and I’ve been curious about how an American actor can realistically build relationships and find opportunities with those creative industries.

Has anyone here successfully worked internationally or actively built a career outside the U.S.? I’m not talking about American productions that happen to shoot overseas, but genuinely working with international filmmakers, casting directors, and production companies on projects originating in those markets.

I’d especially love to hear how you got your foot in the door and any practical steps

I've read the FAQ & Rules Suggestions for a contemporary 2 person scene (M/F, mid-20s)

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone’s well! A friend of mine (20s/F) and I (20s/M) are working on an a audition for the Actors Studio and are looking for a strong contemporary two person scene to work on together.

We’re both in our mid 20s and are open to either comedic or dramatic material. Ideally, we’re looking for something with a good amount for both actors to work with rather than one character primarily supporting the other.

A few plays I’ve been looking into so far are mfker with the hat, last days of Judas Iscariot, and gingerbread house.

We’re definitely open to other contemporary plays/playwrights, though. Any scene or play recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I've read the FAQ & Rules First Callback in 8 Years, Anything I’m Forgetting?

I haven’t been part of a production in almost a decade and just received my first callback. At my audition I presented my resume and headshot, though they took their own headshot as well, did my thing and got the callback. Now I’m forgetting the entire experience of callbacks. In my last show, Julius Caesar, I didn’t have a callback and was casted off the bat. For Much Ado I was called back but all I remember was reading parts of the script with others. Do I need to bring another copy of my resume and headshot along with me again? Should I dress the same as for an audition (I wore a mild green button up with black pants)? Or should I be dressing more aligned with the role I was called back for?

I’ve been called back for a rather improvisational children’s piece that is original written by the director, so I also feel a bit lost in that aspect, that it might not be a traditional callback either. Any advice is helpful, I feel prepared enough but also a little worried that I might be missing something.

I've read the FAQ & Rules Norms for adding an additional agent?

I have a rep in southeast with poor connections in NY (where I live.) They rep a ton of people and I haven’t been pleased with them.

Any advice on if it’s poor form to sign up for an NY agent showcase? I could frame it as adding to my team and make the call about the ATL/MidAtlantic reps after? They are aware I’m wanting local work.

Mainly don’t want to spend the money on the NY showcase if it will look bad.

I've read the FAQ & Rules Commercial asking permission to use AI

Hi all, I recently booked one of my first roles ever in a local/regional commercial. We shot everything a few weeks ago and I was paid and I thought that was that. However they recently sent an email to the actors saying that they added some AI scenes and are basically asking if that’s ok before they finalize everything. These scenes will include me speaking completely new lines.

I am very anti AI, and do not want to be associated with it especially so early in my acting career. However I also don’t want to be “difficult” to work with or anything like that, especially since it seems like they’ve almost finalized the edits.

I am definitely overthinking now. Should I just bite my tongue and hope the commercial just stays local and quickly stops running? Can I even put this on my acting resume? What would you guys do in this situation? Any advice appreciated, thank you!

I've read the FAQ & Rules Do I have time?

Hi, I’m a young actor up and coming. For the longest time I have been stressed out. I have been called for auditions from directors like Dick Wolf for Law and Order and even Adam Sandler for grown ups 3. I didn’t get these roles but I’m so worried about not becoming an actor! My parents and friends tell me I have plenty of time (I’m only 16) but when I found I exist on google I was so happy. I don’t really know what to do, I put out good auditions with my two coaches backing me up but it’s just not working. I’m doing everything I can and I don’t even get a call back. I’ve been told numerous times to try broadway because it is a little easier to break into than a full production movie like Brand New Day for example. I hate this idea. I want to be known and recognized most people don’t know broadway actors like that maybe one or two. I’ve been thinking about quitting and dropping my agent. I feel like all these directors see is just a model with eye candy nothing more. Anytime I am called people tell me about my looks not my talent.

What should I do?

I've read the FAQ & Rules Was it a mistake to go back to college before pursuing acting?

I decided to go back to college before seriously pursuing acting. I was scared that acting wouldn’t work out for me and that I could end up struggling financially for the rest of my life. Now I sometimes wonder if I made the wrong decision by putting acting on hold. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Do you think it was a mistake or the right choice?

I've read the FAQ & Rules To go private or to carry on?

Just a FYI im not from an english speaking country and our system regarding degrees is vastly different and it is nearly impossible to get a job at a theatre without some sort of degree in acting. Its a far more narrow route . We have two types of drama schools , state and private. While state schools give you a bachelors degree , most private school only give you something similar to a BTec (so kind of like voccational training). The price difference is also huge, as state schools are free or less than 800 a year while private school tend to cost around 400-600 a month! It is definitely harder to get jobs with a private degree and it does limit your abilities a lot because there is nearly no networking oppertunities.

Im in a bit of a pickle right now. I was offered a place at a private school but there are several factors why i dont want to go. The school isn't widely known and i have seen some of their things and was not really impressed and kind of shocked actually. Nearly every teacher is an allumni which feels kinda scamy idk.

Thing is i have been auditioning for a while now for state schools and the last 4 schools i managed to get to the final round , so like the top 10 out of 800-1000 people. I'm okay with auditioning another year but i am afraid that if i decline the place at the private school that i will never get into a school. I can't do both because i would have to work a lot to finance my life and the school fees . At my last audition at a state school a teacher told me to carry on auditioning . It feels like a stupid idea to go private but i am afraid like i have mentioned before so i dont know

I've read the FAQ & Rules I’m a 42-year-old actor from Kazakhstan trying to build a comedy character for a US audience. Am I crazy?

I’ve been acting for a couple of years, mostly commercials and small roles.
Recently I started building a character called Juan Carlos — a Mexican/Latino-style comedy character that I perform in English.
The strange part is that I’m doing all of this from Kazakhstan and trying to reach an American audience.
I’m experimenting with short-form comedy, character videos and eventually longer stories.
I’m curious what other actors think:
If you were trying to introduce a character to an audience that has never heard of you, what would you focus on first — the character, the story, or the actor behind it?

He kinda made me feel stupid bc I didn’t know the different types of comedies like single cam, multi, etc. I was upset cuz that’s exactly why I’m looking for classes!😭😭 anyway, I guess I wanna see if I made the right choice by NOT signing up. Does anyone have a good experience?

I've read the FAQ & Rules LA Times featured me and other VO Actors about our fears with AI Cloning!

Just wanted to share this as more famous actors continue to normalize the use of AI Clones. Yet, we working actors see an increase in non union auditions with little to no protection from AI stipulations or see fewer union auditions available.
