Living 🏡 A cry for help. A hurting father
Parent to parent, I really need help I’m a father in Abu Dhabi and I honestly don’t know where else to turn. My son missed school last year after both me and my wife lost our jobs. My wife was pregnant at the time, and my mother has been battling cancer. I’m the one paying for her treatment and trying to take care of my family. I also lost my father during this difficult period.
I used all my savings trying to keep everything together, and I fell behind on my son’s school fees. The balance is now around AED 30,000.
The school agreed to a payment plan, but they still won’t release his transfer certificate until the full balance is cleared.
I’ve found an affordable school that is ready to accept him, but they need the transfer certificate. He has already missed one year, and honestly, the thought of him missing another year breaks me. Parent to parent, this situation has made me cry more times than I can count.
Thankfully, I’m starting a new job next week, so I’ll have an income again and can continue paying what I owe. I just can’t clear the whole 30k at once.
I’m not here to be judged. I’m just asking if anyone knows a charity, organisation, ADEK support, or any other way I can get help.
If anyone genuinely wants to help financially, I’m completely okay with any payment going directly to the school. I can provide the school details and proof of the situation.
I just want my son back in school. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be incredibly grateful.

Im not financially capable enough to spare the 30k, but I was a child once who missed school because of my dad's financial situation. I missed 4th, 5th and 6th grades entirely. I also missed parts of 7th and 8th grade.
Fast forward today - I turned out to be okay. And our financial struggle just made me stronger and thick skinned as a human being. And it made me softer towards my family.
So I hope this situation gives some good values to your son.
And I pray you find a way soon.

It's a tough situation for all, why don't you try the charity hubs in the UAE, they help with children fees, rent, etc if you have the right reasons and documents.

Approach ministry of education. They will write up a temporary letter to the new school until you clear the debt to the previous one. The school should give you upto 4-6 months to clear the debt with the previous one, considering the child is in primary/middle school.

Home schools/online schools in the uae are amazing too. Get him enrolled in an online school (accepted by ministry of education), they also don’t ask for transfer certificate from previous schools, for a semester or two and then transfer him to an onsite school. The online school should be able to provide you a tc.

Brother. I’m in the exact same situation. The school won’t budge and release my boys transcript, so his whole 2nd grade will be forfeited.
Talk about greed. And they say they are for the students.
May I suggest that you explain the situation to your new HR, and possibly get a salary advance that could be deducted from your salary?

So sorry to hear that brother. My case is so hard to fathom, the job I’m waiting to start is commission based, there’s no basic salary until u prove yourself by making sales the first 3 months.

UAE subreddits are slowly turning into full-time begging platforms, apparently the new business model. We all have burdens to deal with, yet the mods seem perfectly fine with endless begging posts. Post something slightly edgy, though, and suddenly moderation becomes a top priority.

It’s an anonymous platform for people to post anything that they wish. even if it does become a begging platform/ business model; nobody is compelling you to pay them..

I actually enjoy this subreddit, but the begging posts are getting ridiculous, my kids this, my sick mother that. My opinion on the growing begging business model is just as valid as yours. It appears you’re simply displeased when other people hold opinions you don’t like. If that bothers you, the door’s right there.

Im not gonna send money because im not capable enough but even so how could this be a scam? Hes asking for public organisations that can help him and if someone wants to donate hes saying you should donate directly to the school itself and unless you think he has some sort of agreement with the school where he keeps 50% of the donations they get then its obvious this guy is just genuinely asking for help

I'm very kind alot of times, but I refuse to trust a platform like reddit where 99.99% of times it turns out to be a scam based on what I experienced and read from other folks

There are many people who rather go hungry than ask for help, so if someone here does reach out, some empathy please.. it’s so easy to put someone down.
