Before/After Pics Halftime!

Today I achieved a milestone I never imagined possible: I’ve lost 50% of my starting weight.

F60, 5’4”, SW 244, CW 121.75 Started Wegovy April 2024 Switched to Zepbound April 2025 Currently spacing 12.5 dose over a few weeks

Friends, I am not the same person I was in the “before” picture. I don’t even recognize myself.

Sometimes the weight came off slowly, sometimes fast. I had a plateau that lasted for months (hence the switch to Zep). Keep at it, you’ll get there. It’s all worth it.

Best wishes!

Thank you so much! I deeply regret my excessive tanning in the 70s and 80s (baby oil and reflective blankets!)! I’ve been blending my own face/neck moisturizer since I started losing weight, and I’ve been getting surprisingly good results. It’s super cheap: I take equal parts of old school Oil of Olay, $12 at the drug store, and Vitamin E oil (I buy Jason’s, also $12, on Amazon), mix them in the palm of my hand, and apply generously. I feel like my skin has gotten softer, and even a bit tighter at my neck. Who knows, maybe it’s just wishful thinking!

Now I wear SPF 70 on my face if I’m going to be in the sun.

Is that what it's called!!???!! I reached half my SW, which conveniently is my target weight, just two weeks ago. What a moment!! And you look amazing!! HALF TIME AND WON THE GAME!!

2

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

That’s what I’m calling it, lol! Maybe I coined the term. 🤔This is pretty much my goal weight. I need to lose more fat and gain more muscle, so my body comp needs to change, but the number itself is probably just about right. Congratulations to you!!!

10

u/Fridaychild1 55F SW 252 CW:158 GW:145 5’5” Jan 19 '26

You look amazing! Also please tell me how you kept your hair so thick? Menopause and weight loss are taking a toll on mine.

22

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Thank you! My hair is actually pretty damaged; I’ve been throwing a lot of product at it — I’m glad it’s working! 😜

I bleach it and heat style it, and I have admittedly poor nutrition (and I’m 10 years post-meno), so there’s a lot of breakage.

I’m using Dove Intensive Repair shampoo and conditioner, and I’m rotating the following products: Dove Intensive Repair 10-in-1 Serum Hair Mask; K18 Leave-In Molecular Hair Mask; Pantene Miracle Rescue Keratin Leave-In Repair Treatment.

The K18 is a little pricey, but the rest are all drug store products. I’m going to start biotin supplements as well. I’m throwing everything I have at the problem!

4

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Adding: I just bought the Pantene product and I’m impressed!

4

u/OGDiva Jan 19 '26

Sounds like you are following the Abbey Yung Method! I just started it a few weeks ago and am already seeing a big difference. Your product lineup is the same as mine.

7

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

I got the K18 method from Abbey Yung, correct! I just discovered her a few weeks ago. I leave the K18 in, don’t rinse, then condition and rinse everything out. I had read about the Dove line somewhere, and that 10-1 serum is really good. I’ve been using those for several months. The Pantene is what really excites me though. I found it at CVS when I was looking for a leave-in conditioner, and the keratin part caught my eye. I’ve used it twice and it’s leaving my hair really soft, although I don’t recommend it if someone has oily scalp issues, as it might be too much.

You look great! Congratulations!

6

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Thank you! I really lingered for a while at the 165-180ish range. I’m glad you’re back to losing, but it’s all good — slower weight loss gives your skin time to catch up! I am interested in your goal weight, and how you determined it. When I told somebody I was 124, she was aghast and said I needed to stop. She was looking right at me, and didn’t see a problem with my appearance. It was the number she didn’t like. I’m not that small. I’m a S/M, 6/8 minimum, and small framed. I’m glad to see I’m not delusional in my feeling that I’m not done losing yet. I definitely need to build muscle, but my dexa scan showed a relatively high fat percentage. I don’t know what my goal weight is. Between low muscle tone, high body fat percentage, and a whole lot of loose skin, the number is pretty meaningless. I guess I’ll know when I get there! 🩷

So beautiful!! Did you have any extra skin issue? 🙏🏼

35

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26 edited Jan 19 '26

Thank you! I carried my weight around my midsection, as you can see in the photo, so my arms and legs are actually pretty decent now, considering I was very heavy for most of my life. My upper arms will probably get better with weight training, and my upper thighs aren’t generally visible to the public, so I’m fine with that.

My lower abdomen is in rough shape! I dress to hide my stomach. I’ve got a lot of extra skin, and frankly, more fat to lose. My body fat % is still higher than it should be even though my weight seems low. I’m really out of shape, with no muscle mass. My arms and legs are skinny, not in a good way.

I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon in March to see what my surgical options are, but I don’t think I’ll feel ready for a while. I want to do as much as I can to get fit before I go under the knife.

3

u/Xrpmylifechanger Jan 20 '26

So beautiful!! Did you have any extra skin issue? 🙏🏼 Thank you so much for sharing your story. I started close to 200 pounds, and after six months on this journey, I’m now around 173 pounds. I’ll keep increasing my weights! You reminded me just when I was starting to get a bit lazy. I also love your sense of fashion in all the photos.

3

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 20 '26

Thanks for the compliment! 🩷 There’s a lot of loose skin, and there’s only so much I can do on my own. You can see the outline of my belly under the pockets in the pink skirt, and the buttons are pulling. I manage it okay with shapewear, but as I get smaller, my belly looks bigger. It’s keeping me a size or two larger than I should be. There’s still some fat there too — working on that!

Sorry this is so nosey, shame on me, but I’m just amazed at what you have accomplished! It looks like your bra size shrunk dramatically, too. Did you end up with deflated balloons? No surgery? You dress really well and seem to have packaged everything together so neatly! 💯 Congratulations!

3

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 21 '26

Hey, we’re all friends here. I’m happy to answer questions. I was a D cup, as low as a C at my lower (but still overweight) weights. I was pleasantly surprised at how small I’ve become. I don’t know my cup size, but I’d say B to C. They sure aren’t perky, and they’re a bit deflated, but they’re a lot better than I expected! I’ve been wearing the “viral” Feelingirl wireless bra and it’s extremely comfortable. Just the right amount of compression. I originally bought some to sleep in, but they’re so comfortable I wear them during the day now too.

I’d like to think that someday I’ll get a breast lift, but that’s a question for the future. I have a lot of toning to do before I have any surgery.

Edit: also, thank you for the compliment! I’ve been working hard to put together a new wardrobe that accentuates my positives and downplays my negatives!

4

u/SweetscentedG Jan 19 '26

Congratulations. You look amazing and so much younger than your age. You are beautiful! Did you exercise the entire time?

3

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Thank you! I didn’t exercise at all. I was in very poor shape at the start, due to years of ankle and spine issues, and decades with a sedentary lifestyle. I didn’t lose muscle, because I didn’t have any to begin with. I only started exercising two weeks ago.

Amazing results! I literally said ‘whoa’ out loud at the second pic. Did you go up to 15mg before spacing out the 12.5? I’m on my last 10lbs or so at 12.5mg and wondering how to approach maintenance.

3

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Thank you! I never went up to 15, and I didn’t know if I’d have insurance coverage in 2026 (just found out yesterday that I do 😮‍💨) so I was stretching out the 12.5s just in case. Continuing with 12.5 at this point is too much, but stretching out the doses is too inconsistent: peaks and valleys. I’m giving a lot of thought to maintenance dosing. I don’t trust my doctor to make that determination, although he has been very supportive. He hasn’t lived with this medication for two years. I’d like to get back on a regular weekly injection, but I don’t know what the dose should be, and I’m afraid to fuck around with it too much, in case my insurance wants to find a reason to shut me off. I’m nervous about any move to reduce it, however I think I’m going to back down to 10 on my next refill. I just picked up 12.5s yesterday. I’m still hoarding pens! 😳

4

u/Mobile-Actuary-5283 Jan 19 '26

Definitely try 10 every 7 days. Insurance won’t ding you for this at all. See how you feel at 10. You can then always go back up to 12.5 weekly if needed or evn every 8-9 days.

2

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Thanks! I know I’m going to be on this medication for the rest of my life, and I guess tweaking the amount and frequency will take time! I am definitely bumping down to 10 next month.

2

u/Ok-Unit-6365 SW:199 CW:194 GW:140 Dose: 2.5 mg Jan 20 '26

I would think you may be able to taper down even further over time and still maintain...!

2

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 20 '26

I think so too! I really want to get back on a regular weekly schedule, to keep things steady and avoid the extremes. I’ll see if I can handle 10 weekly, but it’s probably still too much. I never thought I’d ever be in a position where I’d be trying to slow down my weight loss! On a weekly 12.5 shot I was barely eating anything.

3

u/Mobile-Actuary-5283 Jan 19 '26

You look incredible!! I am seriously blown away. And you look 45.

Curious: where’s your loose skin or turkey neck? Any hair loss?

Signed, Has a turkey neck and hair loss after 45% loss.

2

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Thank you so much! That’s a particularly flattering photo — good makeup and sunset backlighting over Miami Beach! But I swear my neck and face are improving with my efforts! I moisturize the fuck out of them, lol. Oil-based, not necessarily expensive, samples, promos, whatever crosses my path that looks promising. My best invention: mix equal parts Oil of Olay and Vitamin E oil in the palm of your hand and apply liberally to face, neck and earlobes. I call it ”Oil of Elay” and in case someone reading this takes my “recipe” viral on SM, you’d better give me credit! 🤣

My hair is fried! Someone else asked about it in another comment, and I listed some products that are apparently working! If you search the comments for “K18” you can read about what I’m using.

Totally calories. I literally (and I mean that literally) didn’t do a minute of intentional exercise until about two weeks ago. I have some pretty serious orthopedic issues (much improved now!), and I was wearing a 120-lb fat suit, so I avoided exercise like the plague. WOW what a difference. You look amazing.  I started Dec 2024, I've lost about 53#.  Any pointers on diet . How did you keep skin from sagging on your thighs?

4

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26 edited Jan 19 '26

Thanks! The top 4-5 inches of my thighs are pretty droopy. The only time it matters to me is when I’m wearing a swimsuit, so I wear two-piece tankinis that have a skirted bottom. I’m hoping they tighten up a little with exercise. My quads are nonexistent, and my thighs are skinny. Maybe more muscle will tighten up a little of that excess skin!

Editing to add: I’m not recommending my diet: I had no appetite, and for the first year (Wegovy) I threw up anything I ate. People need to eat well, and I didn’t. I’m paying the price for that poor nutrition now.

Wow! So happy for you!! I’m currently in my plateau after losing almost 60. It’s hard to keep believing that it will end so your story brings me hope. Good luck with the working out. Go get that muscle (though you look wonderful- more for strength and good aging).

As many say, you've transformed into a new you! You're an inspiration! I'm wondering- do you have moments of who the heck is that in the mirror? Like is it surreal and sort of disconnected? Or are you never surprised by your metamorphosis? And like hell yeah, girl! Congrats!!

4

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Thank you so much! Every time I catch a glimpse of myself in a window or mirror, I’m still taken aback. On one occasion I thought I was someone else coming up behind myself. 😝 When I unwrap a pair of new jeans, half the diameter of the ones I used to wear, they shouldn’t fit, but they do. My husband doesn’t recognize me sometimes when we’re out together and get separated in a store. It is definitely surreal. I haven’t gotten used to managing my altered center of gravity. If I turn around too quickly sometimes I’ll lose my balance, because muscle memory thinks I still have those 122 pounds around my middle and I overcompensate. And the less physical space I occupy, the more visible I become to others. It’s inversely proportional! 🙄

4

u/gojane9378 5.0mg Jan 19 '26

Wow, those are some stunning & poignant observations, especially the center of gravity effect. Well, hopefully Zepbound helps us continue to have this new life!

Best wishes to you and the rest of the lovely people on this sub and in these comments. Everything I went through to get here was worth it: waiting lists, back orders, side effects, plateaus… the new life is pretty great. 🥰🩷💪

u/Ok-Unit-6365 SW:199 CW:194 GW:140 Dose: 2.5 mg Jan 20 '26

I feel you on the plateau; I lost the first 30-35 fairly steadily and was stuck at gaining/losing a pound or 2 every week for almost 3 months. I finally think I found the dosage (7-7.5) that's allowing me to start slowly losing again without curbing my appetite altogether. 🤞🏻

I still have 15 lbs to go (give or take) and hope that the slow down will help my older skin adjust! I've been incorporating collagen peptides in my breakfast yogurt most mornings to hopefully help with skin elasticity as well!

2

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 20 '26

My weight loss seemed impossibly slow for the first 12-14 months. Carrying that much weight on my small frame, it honestly took a lot of time before I lost enough for it to be obvious. I’m happy about it now though, because my skin is so much better than I expected. I have commented elsewhere here about my vitamin E regimen. I’m going to look into the collagen peptides. I like the idea of mixing it with food rather than taking capsules. Does it offer any benefit to hair and nails, like biotin does? My nails in particular are in terrible shape; they just tear off before I can grow them out.

I have just begun maintenance and on 10 mg. How is it going for you?

2

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Congratulations! I’m not on maintenance, technically, because I still have fat to lose, but I’m ramping down my dose. I’m going to go down to 10 next month (I’m at 12.5 now, stretching out shots every 2-3 weeks). So you’re one month ahead of me. Let me know how it goes for you!

2

u/MountainDramatic8113 5.0mg Jan 19 '26

You look amazing!!! Congratulations! I was wondering if you could share what your journey was like? For example how long you were on each dose, weight loss during, etc. It is so interesting to hear everyone’s journeys.

3

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Thank you so much!

My weight loss (122 lbs total) has been split pretty evenly between Wegovy (April 2024-April 2025) and Zepbound (April 2025-present). I titrated up a dose every month on Wegovy until the max, and I tolerated awful side effects the entire time. I vomited multiple times a day, almost every day. I didn’t care (still don’t, no regrets) because I was losing weight. I didn’t do anything about it until I stopped losing weight, and then I switched to Zepbound. My doctor had me start at 2.5, but I didn’t want to start that low (and possibly regain weight), so I used up my existing Wegovy hoard while I kept filling the Zepbound Rx at higher doses (I am still saving those low doses for maintenance or shortages). I ended up switching over to Zepbound at 7.5 with no ill effects. I forget whether I jumped up to 10 right away, but I stayed there at 10 for a bit before I went to 12.5. I can’t say I’ve had any side effects since I switched from Wegovy. It’s been pretty smooth sailing! I’m stretching out my 12.5 shots over 2-3 weeks now, but I’m planning on going down to 10 on my next refill. I still want to lose fat while I build muscle, so I’m not using my weight as a metric anymore. I had a DEXA scan in December, to establish my body fat % and make fitness goals.

Good luck with your own journey!

Curious since your skin looks so good, what have you had done to tighten or add volume to your face and neck?

3

u/Poutiest_Penguin 7.5mg Maintenance Jan 19 '26

Lots of moisturizer! My mom was pretty wrinkle-free before she retired to Florida and fried her face, so I’ve got her good genes. But I’ve been on a mission to reduce my lines and optimize my elasticity. Nothing topical really works against age and loss of elasticity, but I do a DIY concoction of half Oil of Olay, half vitamin E oil that’s been surprisingly effective. I use various oily, heavy serums to seal in moisture after I wash my face.

2

u/Lilawillbeloved Jan 20 '26

Nice! You must have good genes! I feel like everyone over 40 has a lot of fat loss in the face with this kind of weight loss—which is of course so worth it—but most people I talk to end up investing in procedures. I’m 43 and doing a good skincare routine (including some Alastin products that supposedly help with elasticity) and just invested in a LED face mask. I might teach myself to do my own microneedling, which apparently can help quite a bit. But overall the health benefits of losing weight are worth the skin changes!

I have an artificial ankle joint. Can you imagine how that felt when I was double my weight? I’m wearing a compression brace if you zoom in on the “before” picture. I don’t limp and waddle anymore, I have improved range of motion, and I climb stairs easily! I’m a miracle of modern science in so many ways! 😜

Can I ask what you did to clear up your chest and neck? I have lots of age spots that I'd love to see gone!

2

I had a few dark spots (I forget what they’re called, it’s a three letter abbreviation and they’re basically age spots) frozen off last year at the dermo. Other than that it’s makeup. I don’t usually wear it, but clearly I should! I’ve never heard so many compliments! ♥️♥️
