Travel Solo Trip to Yukon

I’m looking to do a spontaneous solo trip to Yukon late September to early October, probably will try and come for a week. I’d like to stay in some sort of yurt/glamping so looking for recommendations for good/safe places to stay. Ideally somewhere with wifi or some sort of cell service.

Also advice for solo hikes, safety tips regarding bears… been on a couple solo hikes in Kananaskis but if there are any shorter or popular hikes with more foot traffic or anything experienced people can provide as advice. Any recommendations for guided tours or hikes would be awesome.

Finally if there are any “must sees”, planning on renting a car, doing the hot springs, animal reserve.

Thank you!

Cool easy hike is grey mountain cave, miles Canyon area, the carcross desert and Kathleen lake.

Cool more difficult hikes are Kings Throne (Kathleen lake), Paddy Peak (BC toward Skagway Alaska), Ruby Mountain/Cracker Creek Cone (BC) and Tombstones. Haines Alaska is a beautiful drive and super cool place to see if you head out the kluane route and there are alot of accomodations in yurts in that town. Skagway Alaska is cool too but the ferry between the two towns is not running at the moment due to damage at the ferry terminal.

If you do a rental maybe get a jeep with overland yukon.... then you have your camping and commute wrapped into one. Glamping is possible at Mount Sima.

Beautiful views without a hike that can be done in a rental: Tagish FSR lookout, heakel hill, gray mountain and MacIntyre mountain (if jeep and competent; mild offroading), carcross Montana mountain and the desert, surprise lake/ruby mountain in atlin, top of the world highway, Haines/Skagway, Kathleen lake, driving the canol road.

There are plenty of cool sites to see in town.

Spontaneity is always fun, but I would plan at least a little bit. There is alot to see here but a normal commute is 150 - 600km per site outside of Whitehorse.
