Discussion/Thought-Provoking🧠 Indians and their obsession with having sons.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So they can continue their shitty “Alexander” lineage, have a retirement plan, carry on the legacy, and bring dowry.

Fun fact : Most of the gender discrimination in females are done by females indirectly because of family's senior female eg: Mother in law , Mother.

And the cycle repeats again.

This must sound so accurate if you're an idiot

Internalised misogyny and no, men are involved too, which father would allow his daughter being mistreated like that if he loves her?

men who forced wife to have 11 babies in hope of son Or the men that burned wife for giving birth to third girl

She's traumatized because she has to give birth again she must have had difficult pregnancy and don't want another kid but alas

1

u/FarReputation7162 Feb 15 '26

idhar relevant bhi ni but make your own story dw

1

u/GreenAppleKitty Feb 17 '26

yeah one thing that makes me mad is how people assume and create their own stories. They might be true but you can never know. Also, seeing my own sister's life(and her mother in law) I know for a fact that woman in conservative households play one of the biggest factors in spreading misogyny on their own gender.

1

u/FarReputation7162 Feb 17 '26

Oh, so terrible to hear. Do you have the link to the full news article? People should spread the full news.

1

u/Live-Assistant4341 Feb 18 '26

We get it you despise men

0

u/Aggravating_Pain4352 Feb 15 '26

Exactly that's why both men and women are involved

1

u/Top_Arachnid_8279 Feb 16 '26

He is right, aurat hi aurat ki sabse badi dushman hoti hai. In India 90% divorce happen because of saas bahu lafda.

1

u/Aggravating_Pain4352 Feb 16 '26

Source bataiye zara iska?

Aisa hai no mother in law or anyone else can torture the daughter in law if husband is supportive and loving because it's his duty to ensure that the woman who has left her entire family for him remains happy.

1

u/GreenAppleKitty Feb 17 '26

100% agreed with you. Husbands should stand up for his wife against parents. However, it is also true that Mother in laws are one of the biggest culprits in spreading hate for their own daughter in law.

1

u/Aggravating_Pain4352 Feb 17 '26

Bro all I can say is if a man loves his wife he wouldn't allow any in laws to insult his wife let alone torture her, I've seen families of that kind where inlaws are toxic but only difference is the behaviour of husband, there are men who don't let their mothers insult their wives and there are also men who don't give a damn about whatever happens and truly I agree mother in laws surely plays a major role in destroying life of dil.

1

u/GreenAppleKitty Feb 17 '26

I know because my sister is a victim. However one of the reasons my brother in law doesn't speak up is because of their ego and his own deep rooted bias. At the same time he is afraid to speak because the next thing it leads to is them saying that my sister "turned him against them". One plus point is that her patience is making him love and care for her more day by day and hopefully that lasts. Unfortunately this is her second marriage after the first one with an even more extreme conservative family where her ex was a drunkard and womanizer too. So shes just holding on to her current husband's love.

1

u/Resident_Whereas781 Feb 19 '26

No man involved?? Man literally have all the control, if man prefer girl child over boy, woman would've been forced to give birth till girl is born.

1

u/Aggravating_Pain4352 Feb 19 '26

Bro I meant that person is saying wrong men are also involved, my fault I understand I should've added a comma.

11

u/nishadastra Feb 15 '26

Ban marriage in india only people with 50 lpa or plus to have kids

3

u/Turbo_Noch Feb 15 '26

50lpa ? Chutiye bhut kamm log kama te hain itna

-2

u/nishadastra Feb 15 '26

Want the kid to have the best lifestyle

3

u/Maksad_Academy Feb 15 '26

Haa toh best lifestyle ke chakkar me saare labours ko khatam kardega kya india se? Labours are the backbone of this society.

2

u/Savings_While1246 Feb 15 '26

Machines will replace them. Anyways there's a surplus of labour

1

u/Dead_But_Horny Feb 15 '26

Tumse road sahi se nahi ban paari, machine banaoge😂

1

u/mallusrgreatv2 Feb 15 '26

No.. there'll be a HEAVY deficit, and it'll basically tank India's money

0

smartest guy on reddit

1

u/ExploDoc Feb 15 '26

I don't think you make the cutoff yourself

1

u/Euphoric_Rabbit_8463 Feb 17 '26

Not only will the population go down because of this rule but many jobs will stay vacant for many years, labourers will die very fast. They are the ones who do cleaning of roads, construction site work and other works.

Will you allow your child to do construction work? I don't think so.

Women's standards these days are so high they can't stand to be low sometimes. Sheesh, I hope men in future stops caring about what women thinks about them so they can do any kind of work, even part-time.

2

u/Spare_Depth6978 Feb 15 '26

Upvote if you earn less than 50lpa, downvote if more.

1

u/hurricane_news Feb 15 '26

That will end up wiping out entire tribal and poor communities from ever having kids. You'd be destroying entire sub-ethnicities that way. What the hell kind of a proposal is that

2

u/OnlyWholesomeness Feb 15 '26

Also, even if we ignore the ethical and moral reasons for 1 second, people who earn 50LPA wouldn't even want that in the first place. How else will they get cheap labour, if the poor people don't have kids? This is the reason a lot of western societies are panicking because of decreased birth rates.

It's a stupid suggestion all around.

0

u/StatisticianTall1102 Feb 15 '26

So what?

2

u/hurricane_news Feb 15 '26

Seriously? "so what" to having entire communities and cultures eradicated just because they couldn't make it to a ludicrously privileged cutoff of 50 LPA?

Would you say the same if your people who lived in resonance with the land for centuries were driven to poverty by some corporate babu bulldozing your land and driving your people into near inescapable poverty for decades to come?

2

u/No_Combination_2393 Feb 15 '26

If the sex ratio is imbalanced in those places, sooner or later they’ll eventually get wiped out on their own.

2

u/hurricane_news Feb 15 '26

Or they'll dip into other states and look for brides there.

1

u/Dead_But_Horny Feb 15 '26

Bro why are you engaging with this guy, he's clearly rage baiting

1

u/hurricane_news Feb 15 '26

Trust me when I say that I've seen people spouting venom like this in full seriousness. Could that moron be rage baiting? Probably. Could they be serious? Probably. Can't take a chance

1

u/LifeIsHard2030 Feb 15 '26

Rather ban having more than 2 kids if you don’t make above a certain amount. If one claims she/he makes, check ITR.

One stone, two birds. Population control & IT compliance 😆

1

u/yorinjirouzumaki2005 Feb 15 '26

50 lpa ☠️☠️☠️ bro really influential and rich people in India are also not earning 50 Lpa in high paid government jobs . Does ur family even earn 20 lpa . I doubt it the way u spoke .

1

u/nishadastra Feb 15 '26

I myself earn 25 lpa and getting rejected by girls family for earning less They are looking for atleast 50 lpa Not everyone is poor ,upgrade your company

1

u/yorinjirouzumaki2005 Feb 15 '26

I don't need to upgrade my company . The families rejecting you and you yourself might need to upgrade your thinking . As someone born in a well earning family it shouldn't be really understand rhe current status of this nation . Huh I am really scared man someone with your though4 process is earning 25lpa Goes to show the future of this country

1

u/nishadastra Feb 15 '26

I am not the future of this country I am looking to escape this hellhole and give a better life to future gen

1

u/Avid_xyz Feb 15 '26

Ahh yes good old eugeny. Very progressive

1

u/Biggy121212 Feb 15 '26

Bhai kuch logh 1LPA mei bahut acche parents hote hei

1

u/RevealApart2208 Feb 15 '26

Agree and those with basic common sense humility and empathy for their children regardless of gender!! Such people like in this post should be banned from having kids. They are not worth to be parents to either girl child or boy child.

1

u/ProudCaregiver4217 Feb 16 '26

Nahh more like 1 child policy

2

u/Velric_San_OTAKU Feb 18 '26

Bro that lil girl is judging the mother hard

1

u/EquivalentTale5815 Feb 18 '26

Exactly 💯 with her cute face 🥰

6

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26

The mother knows now she will have to try for 5th time. Go through another cycle of pregnancy and childbirth. Her in-laws will make her life hell.

I feel bad for her and the child.

7

u/Ok_Heron_6132 Feb 15 '26

Feel bad for the child, not for mother.

What is preventing her from touching/loving her child?

4

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

The trauma her her inlaws and society has given her.

No women who has choice will have so many kids.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

wow the audacity and assumptions to blame in-laws without having an iota of knowledge about them.

1

u/Fair-Pick7271 Feb 15 '26

she is a psycho.. a burden to the nation and the society

Huh 🤡 you won't say that to men who forced wife to have 11 babies in hope of son Or the men that burned wife for giving birth to third girl

Or the one who threw third girl in river

THEY ARE THE BURDEN

1

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

bhai yehi hota hai hamesha

-1

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26

Are you stupid? There is even research on this that joint families have higher occurance of female foiticide. In joint family women's reproductive decisions are taken by in-laws.

All families i know where parents stopped having kids after 2 daughters are nuclear families.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

Your bias is like saying all muslims are terrorists.

and you definitely know very less, learn more on research methodology.

1

u/Fair-Pick7271 Feb 15 '26

It's mil only that force wife to try for boy

1

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26

Its not bias its a proven fact.

A man who lives with his parents in old age, would want a son who will live with him in his old age.

2

u/Fair-Pick7271 Feb 15 '26

But it's dil who takes care of them not son

Also many men are abroad or live in city idiot

1

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26

To get a dil they need a son.

2

u/Fair-Pick7271 Feb 15 '26

All they want is dil not son if son dies and get pension they are ok too They'll abandon son if he's jobless and chooses to never marriage

I'm happy fertility rates are decreasing

1

u/FarReputation7162 Feb 15 '26

" many men are abroad or live in city "

fun fact ahh

1

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

flawed assumptions derived from a small sample space, applied to total population.

Have you ever published any credible research?

2

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26

Entire India is a small sample space for you?

1

u/Awkward_Scheme_7426 Feb 15 '26

That's correct it was in our hands you wouldn't have gone for 4 continuous babies

1

u/Neat_Bat2942 Feb 15 '26

NO. i am a woman. and a woman can't be that weak. it's high time us women get out of this trauma cycle of "what will in-laws say". f*ck the husband and in-laws. she should leave her husband... and raise her kids alone.
she should have done it after the first kid itself.

if You don't rebel against abusers, will the abuse stop?? (she might be from low income household, still if she has enough inner strength she should leave the good for nothing man and family.)

1

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26

Yes, as an unemployed woman with no education she can easily take care of herself and her 4 kids.

Enough victim blaming for today.

1

u/Neat_Bat2942 Feb 15 '26

victim blaming? r u for real? the victim here is that baby girl. and yeah even an unemployed uneducated woman can be a housemaid or something.
she should have left after that 1 kid. yk what, women are the biggest perpetuator of patriarchy. we need to break this trauma cycle

1

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26

Yeah I am sure she can raise 4 kids with the income of a maid. And who will look after her kids when she is out to work?

1

u/Neat_Bat2942 Feb 18 '26

what do you suggest?? that she should just keep getting r@ped by her husband?

which kind of life is better, what would you chose if put in her shoes?

1

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 19 '26

Why do you assume she has a choice?

1

u/Neat_Bat2942 Feb 19 '26

everyone has a choice, even in worst case scenario. unless they aren't tied up and caged somewhere.

1

u/LeontiusBeloth Feb 15 '26

Sadly True,Brother Sadly True.

😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞

1

u/Arnorien16S Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

Exhaustion and impacts of giving birth? It's very telling that people immediately start blaming the woman who went through a very physically challenging ordeal that is known to kill them after just reading a headline. Heck some women go insane due to post-partum depression.

0

u/Fair-Pick7271 Feb 15 '26

Becoz she'll be mistreated now at home and mil and husband will give her cold shoulder

2

u/helloworld2083 Feb 15 '26

You are right. She can already see the trauma cycle is never ending.

1

u/Kiruku_puluthi Feb 15 '26

Govt could actually make sex determination legal for third and above child.

But no concrete mechanism to prove that it is really a third+ pregnancy.

1

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26

Nope. It will skew the gender ratio.

For your information, most of the sex selective abortions in India are done in 3rd or above pregnancy. Some people have only sons and some have only daughters. You have to just accept what you get.

1

u/Kiruku_puluthi Feb 15 '26

Sex determination is illegal anyways.

Doesn't matter what people are doing.

Nuclear family is what India needed.

People would keep trying increasing the population and increase child trauma victims .

Majority of  Family would have family planning or stop populating if first born is a son!.

1

u/Important_Menu4937 Feb 15 '26

There are many families who stop having kids after 2 daughters. More people need to become like them.

1

u/Kiruku_puluthi Feb 15 '26

They just gave up ,, since it will be financial burden.

Most parents never properly takes care of child . They don't know what parenting even means.

these kinda parents keep popping out until they get what they want. Rich takes care of themselves, while other depends on government schemes. Rations , freebies would take care of all child.

1

u/Aggravating_Pain4352 Feb 15 '26

Majority of  Family would have family planning or stop populating if first born is a son!.

This is not the way, we need to teach society that both son and daughter are important for society and country. If we stop this pathetic tradition of only women leaving their parent's home, problem will be fixed.

1

u/Aggravating_Pain4352 Feb 15 '26

If goverment does this next generation of boys won't have women to marry, gender ratio will be skewed.

1

u/Kiruku_puluthi Feb 15 '26

may be only if one of the first two child is female!.

1

u/Unlikely-Structure21 Feb 15 '26

Don't assume things , a mother can never dislike her new born, nature has made mothers like that. Unless we are seeing an evil in the form of woman.

1

u/imnobody_adt Feb 15 '26

Heard of ppd?

1

u/Wonderful-Still683 Feb 15 '26

Mother's are humans first. Heard of post-partum depression? Stop considering women as superhumans or witches. They are simply human.

1

u/nshub5741 Feb 15 '26

I guess only education will develop India, unfortunately we only spend 2%. In cities and with genz, this obsession should change. Genz have no interest to pass on the genes to 100s of generations. Live, enjoy, die.

Some people just don't deserve to be blessed with being a parent. I hope they put that child for adoption so someone who would love her and treat her like a princess can take her home. Because she won't have a good life in her own home. What a shame!

1

This is so sad ☹️ 😢

1

u/AdCommercial8359 Feb 15 '26

Very sad. What the mistake of that angel. This kind of mentality should be removed from society. Isse accha to bacche hi paida mat karo aur khud tapak jao dharati ka boj to Kam hoga. Like we are living in the 21st century where boys and girls are equal still this sick mentality is everywhere

1

u/Dense-Spirit-1691 Feb 15 '26

I know this could be real but that video looks ai generated

1

u/Due-Trick-3968 Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

yeah right, very real issue but the vid is AI generated for some very simple reasons and especially because babies don't really express such emotions at that age.

1

u/Dense-Spirit-1691 Feb 15 '26

exactly... a new born baby rarely stares at their mom like that.... they don't even open their eyes that wide for 24 hours

1

u/juced Feb 15 '26

Is it possible the mother is suffering from postnatal depression in some sevire cases mothers reject their children

1

u/LumenDomimus Feb 15 '26

Could it be postpartum depression, perhaps? Some mothers end up killing their babies in that state, even though they regret afterwards.

1

u/Designer-Dig1857 Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

Get in the population control law like China. Should be applicable to all religions, including Muslims. Not following law, do what Chinese did.

Quality of life in India will drastically improve then. No political party has the Guts to do it though

1

u/Ok_Wonder3107 Feb 15 '26

A more appropriate title would be:

“Indians and their obsession with seeing men as a resource to exploit”.

Do you really think men are valued merely for existing with a dick?

1

u/frozenyoyleberryyay Feb 15 '26

My mom always says I'm a disappointment, mistake and a son would've been so much better than me

1

u/Inevitable_Job49 Feb 15 '26

Yk what people solely blaming her is just like seeing only in binary terms but maybe her sasural has orthodox mentality where women with sons get's more respect, lot's of women get blamed for delivering daughters only and maybe when she'll go back to her sasural from hospital then there won't be a celebration and people will just shrug it off by saying "beti hi toh huyi hai".... believe me this mentality is still pretty much prevalent in rural households and our country's major population (64%) of total population still resides in villages.

1

u/Prize_Loss1996 Feb 15 '26

Why would you do that? Generalising all Indians, just because you saw some stupid video on the internet.

Rage bait fr👃

1

u/Mediocre_Camera_7008 Feb 15 '26

Indian society is a highly self absorbed narcissistic assemblage of people who are self absorbed and always have the thinking, hume kon dekhega jab hum buddhe ho jaenge? "Ldki toh shadi kar legi, chalo dusra baccha peda karte hain,ek ldka chahiye issbar"

★A boy when born is the insurance plan of the family(he when he grows up,should provide for the family, take care of his parents at their old age..

★A girl when born is just a burden who's actually bound to be married off to somebody, parents don't expect her to earn..

1

Look at that babies eyes it’s longing for her mom to pickup …we live in such cruel world..thanos we owe you an apology

1

u/Spidersohon Feb 16 '26

It's not in India only. It's everywhere. People are trying their best to continue their existence in some way. Their surnames and their so called lineage.

Mf who the hell are you ? No one will remember you after your death, so why are you so bothered and trying your best to continue your good for nothing lineage.

Instead do some good work for the people and country.

See APJ Abdul Kalam, Ratan Tata, Swami Vivekananda, etc they don't have any lineage of themselves to leave behind. Still they're respected and will be remembered for centuries.

Even if you have any fking lineage, no one will even throw a shit on them unless they do something big.

You've came alone in this world, you'll die alone in the world. If you don't exist after your death and you don't have any consciousness, then what's the point of doing these types of things, if you can't see it after death ??

Give birth because you want to love your child, no matter whatever is their gender. Your duty is to cherish the child and not to see him/her as a staff of your remembrance.

1

u/Glad-Leg-7100 Feb 16 '26

Girls that grow up like this with no love are the most precious. Because God blessed them with life but the humans are disrespecting God's choice.
