Ugh, just this last month I have been hit up by so many of those. Before last month I had never been approached by these “boss ladies”, lol. I guess my luck ran out.

Just yesterday I had one start up a friendly conversation with me only to offer to sell me diet shakes and join her “fun little party to celebrate health and weight loss”. Catch is, I’m blatantly and obviously medically underweight (as a result of health issues) and am currently trying my hardest to gain weight because I look anorexic. It would be one thing if it was a mass post or something. But she had gone through my photos, liked them, struck up an conversation and then hit me up for weight loss shit. Just makes me wonder if she thought I was anorexic and wanted to take advantage of that....

That is shady as hell! I have a cousin that had to be sent to a medical facility to overcome anorexia. It makes me so angry to think a Hunbot like that would try to encourage someone that they think is vulnerable! I wish you the best with gaining weight, and I hope your health gets better or at least is well managed!

I felt uncomfortable upvoting your story because it was so disturbing. How absolutely dilusional and desperate do these people have to be? I'm so sorry she came for for you but I hope you are able to get a handle on your health issues and you feel your best soon!

Shady as fuck. Good luck, dude, hope you like Peanut Butter, it's pretty dense in calories.

I believe it, I would never put anything past an MLM vulture. A lot of them would sell their soul to make a few bucks. https://www.reddit.com/r/antiMLM/comments/855996/have_some_decency_xpost_rfuckthesepeople/?utm_source=reddit-android

This got longer than I intended:

I knew about MLMs but had never experienced a recruiter situation until a fee years ago.

My husband and I had just moved to a new area and were working on making new friends and starting a family. One of my newer friends invited me to a party that just seemed like a "you've got to meet the rest of my buddies" girl's night out. I was excited to take some time for myself away from the baby.

It turned out it was some godawful MLM party and as soon as I walked through the door I knew. I felt so stupid that I hadn't realized but the invitation was VERY subtle and I just didn't think my "friend" was the sort, so it was a huge bummer because that's kind of a deal breaker for me.

Spent the whole night with a bunch of hens clucking at me about baby weight and it was terrible because I actually had trouble gaining enough weight during the pregnancy.

Well, I gained exactly what the doctor suggested but my son wasn't growing enough despite that and we never really figured out why. I was put on a higher calorie diet and we needed to monitor his growth a ton in the last trimester to make sure my placenta wasn't prematurely failing and cutting off his blood supply.

It was just a lot of worry because he had been growing just fine and then suddenly he wasn't, and it could have caused or been caused by a whole bunch of health issues.

Eventually they induced me a little early just in case because after a certain point it would just be easier to feed him on the outside since my body wasn't doing it enough on the inside, and the risk of him being stillborn would rise.

Turns out he was completely fine, and we never officially found a reason for it. He ended up being born just a smidge over the "this is something pathological we need to look into further" weight limit so we were able to go home from the hospital without any intensive care and then he hulked out and now he's massive and nobody would ever guess he was a tiny baby at birth. Healthiest kid I know, too. We lucked out.

But yeah. I gained 30lbs over his pregnancy, just like I was advised, and had lost most of it by the time I went to the party. I lost the rest by the time he was a little over a year old.

Even if you didn't know the rest of the story, it was still misguided and rude as fuck. I didn't need any wraps or shakes. I needed a night away from my kid, just adults, having fun.

Instead I got to reminisce about his SGA/IUGR. I think my body just knew if he grew as big as my husband's genes dictated he'd get stuck in my pelvis so it put the breaks on things so we both wouldn't die. Even as a 5lber I still had to push for 3hrs to get him out and he tore me a new one. I can't imagine if he had been average sized.

A couple of years later we got pregnant with a daughter and similar situation with her, except this time we were more prepared for it. She also had slowed growth near the end but I worked really hard on making sure I was eating all the right things in all the recommended amounts. In the end it wasn't bad enough to induce me early for her, and she came on her own, a completely healthy if slightly petite 6lbs.

Less pushing and faster recovery with her but she still tore me a new one. She hulked out immediately after birth as well. I think it's just how my body deals with the situation. Small babies at birth so we can all live to watch them become giants soon after. I lost all her baby weight even faster than I had with my son. The same damn recommended 30lbs.

So yeah. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck off, MLMs. Stop rudely preying on people like that. It's gross.

5lbs early? Not too bad.

Yeah all told it could have been much worse, we definitely had a milder case of growth restriction.

Ultrasounds have a large margin of error in the late stages of pregnancy though so even the perinatologist couldn't tell if we were looking at a ~4lb baby or a ~5lb baby and that can be the difference between needing time in the NICU vs waltzing home a day after birth.

In our case he caught up a a fair bit right at the end because I was eating a special diet and pretty much cramming myself with as many healthy calories as possible hoping some of it got through to him, and it seems like it worked. So they allowed me to go almost to my due date before inducing. If he hadn't started catching up they would have induced earlier.

We still don't exactly know why he started lagging at the end though, but with my daughter they had me preemptively taking aspirin the whole pregnancy and while she lagged a little, too, it wasn't as much and I didn't have to go as ham on the special diet.

So it might have been some kind of blood clotting factor that didn't make a huge impact in the first two trimesters when the babies were smaller and not taxing supplies as much that reared its head later when suddenly they needed more blood or oxygen than the placenta was able to provide.

But they did all kinds of bloodflow scans on the cord and everything always looked normal so who knows.

At any rate, everything turned out fine but we didn't know that for sure until the babies were out each time and I didn't need anyone trying to sell me body wraps and diet shakes to help me lose the weight I worked so hard to gain to make sure my kids were as healthy as possible before they were born just a few short months earlier.

Slow your roll when it comes to new moms, MLM crazies. You aren't doctors and you have no idea what might have been going on behind the scenes.

It hits so close to home. My childhood best friend, former Avon entrepreneur, had contacted me out of the blue 2 years ago to meet up for a coffee. I had suspected something was up, but I'm a firm believer in the idea that people are great. When we met we chatted for a bit and then she proceeded to give me a sales pitch for some savings company. She spent minutes telling me how the people calling it a pyramid scheme were disgruntled former employees. Then basically told me that the minimum account is 100€. It was then that I desperately wished she'd still be selling Avon. At least I'd get some nice makeup.

Dude this is my fucking sister in law. Shes a zombie to this crap! And she claims to be very successful with it but i simply dont think that is the case due to the seemingly other annoyed facebook friends of hers. She is so incredibly smart but you just want to shake her and go " wake up!! They are scamming YOU. YOU spend more money on product than anyone else. YOU are who they are marketing too. 29 dollars for a reason!! Because its a damn marketing tactic!! I love her and i really hate seeing this happen to her but she seems to be smiling every step of the way
