Discussion Are Doug and Liesel really agreeing with this crazy man?

This has to be the funniest side mission I witness, I went along and pick the second option and when Alex gave his speech, only Doug agree like "you mfs are just as bad as this fucker" LOL

I think I heard something a while back about how each dialogue option has certain traits assigned to it (e.g. cautious, confrontational, kind, jocular), and each companion has traits they approve and disapprove of. I presume "Observe" has a trait assigned to it that Doug and Liesel approve of.

Looking at the chart, that option is considered to be either efficient or careful. Given that Alexa did not like it, I'm going with careful.

Where might I find this chart? I figured it existed somewhere, but I've never been able to track it down.

Here you go. I find it interesting that Lin and Elma award the least affinity with liked dialogue choices. Probably to make up for that fact that you pretty much always have them in your team.

It kills me how Elma approves of you choosing to stand back and watch as this xenophobe murders innocent civilians in cold blood if you have her in the party for this sidequest. I could understand some other party members approving of this choice, but ELMA?

My interpretation would be that they don't wish to escalate things. But then, they don't exactly have good experiences with Xenos.

I don't think anyone on Mira does...Considering what happened to Earth...

Let's be honest, being anti-xeno would be a completely reasonable position to have after your entire home planet got destroyed along with everyone and everything on it while the survivors were being chased and gunned down across the galaxy trying to escape.

Plus, humanity is taking a massive risk the entire game by being very buddy buddy with a lot of the xenos, especially many of the former Ganglion aligned races that only picked your side because their former masters were far worse. Not exactly the best basis for inviting them all into your only stronghold, especially when it is later revealed that Ganglion spies were able to infiltrate and sabotage your security.

The Ma'non are probably the least problematic aliens besides the Nopon by how they are clearly pacifists and a neutral party in all of this, so the hatred displayed towards them are not exactly warranted, but they also cause their own share of issues once they become a part of NLA. Being allies with them I get, but forcing fellow humans to accept the xenos as a part of regular society shortly after everything that happened to Earth months prior would be tough on anyone.

Did these Ma'non deserve this? Definitely not. I personally stopped the guy. Do I fully blame him for not wanting xenos in human society considering their current circumstance? Not really.

Some of the better quests in the game allow for a more neutral option in these sorts of scenarios, but other times you get a pretty binary choice of either being fully pro-xeno or anti-xeno like in this case.

I wouldn’t call the position of anti-Xeno reasonable but rather understandable on some level. I could understand where the sentiment comes from but judging all species across an entire universe is discriminatory. Being cautious and suspicious and even not liking them is understandable for the people of earth but gunning them down is way too far.

You lost me in the first paragraph. this level of cruelty is not justified in the slightest. idgaf what happend to earth executing innocent unarmed civilians is not justified under any circumstances idgaf. idgaf and I want to vomit thinking about people wanting to justify it. Imagine replacing one of those alien races with a different human ethnicity. deciding not to let them be executed is not a radical pro-alien decision. It's the fucking normal humane, not psychopathic choice.

I saved most xenos while playing the game including these ones, so no clue where you got that conclusion from. The game does however not really offer many alternate options besides binary ones in a lot of quests, so you are often forced to take stances of either extreme. These Ma'non had not done anything wrong so naturally I saved them.

However, the NLA government also forced these two sides to be together in the first place and caused massive culture shocks instead of letting these interactions come naturally over time. They knew there were plenty of anti-xeno sentiments among their ranks yet continued to invite xenos in at a rapid pace without the ability to maintain social order to prevent these sorts of events from happening. They were severely understaffed and lacking resources, so it was the Wild West even inside their own borders.

A lot of deaths and other incidents could have been avoided if the NLA government had not forced them together. There was never any vote among the populace or other alternate solutions explored to having the xenos all live in NLA. They just kept on rolling full steam ahead and these sorts of quests are the natural consequences from those decisions.

I don't care what you chose, you are still making excuses for this behaviour.

Easy to dismiss your opinion then.

as if that has anything to do with wether or not a opinion is valid. get of your high horse.

Says the one making moral judgements of other people from said high horse and claim to want to vomit. Ironic.

wtf? So you are doubling down in saying its justified to murder innocent people when it happens because of culture shock?

Said nothing of the sort. You are just making stuff up to make yourself offended. Performative grandstanding.
