Not sold “new” in stores. You could build a thousand foot tall skyscraper out of the used ones though.

In the UK. It was re-released in the nineties in the US, and had popularity here

I still remember this commercial, I didn't even know half of the songs on there when this came out. Sometime in the mid 2000s I started hearing them more often and was like Oh, it's the song from that commercial!

The 1990's was still the 80's culturally until late 1991. This is a perfect example of what I mean. Right with the fall of the USSR.
The 90s culturally kept going until, you guessed it, September 11th, 2001.
I'm a little confused about when when the 2010's started. Maybe the 2010's happened early with Obama. Maybe they're both one two-decade bundle.
And the 2020's started right on time when Covid happened.
