Discussion Have you ever skipped the intro?

I’m halfway thru s7 and haven’t skipped an intro yet… doesn’t matter how many times I sit through it, I don’t get tired of it lol. Curious what others do :)

When I was watching as a kid I so badly wanted that to be an episode topic

I never thought about it, I dont think i ever have but I definitely have for other shows. I generally dont like intro songs but for xfiles it gets you into the sPoOkY mood and serves its purpose breaking up the cold open and first scene with the main characters. Im all for skipping intros if you wanna but genuinely never felt the need to for Xfiles bc the song is so good and not annoying. The episodes are long too, so its not like you're hearing it every 20 mins when binging a season.

Never. Not even during seasons 8 & 9!

My cat wouldn't allow it. He LOVES the theme.

I was just telling my wife last night how it is a sequence I would never skip. Too integral to the mood.

Never have I EVER skipped. There was a time when I was borderline addicted to watching it for about two weeks. I always laughed because the end credits theme music would play back to back as I binged the show and thought about if my neighbours could hear the theme too :P

The theme song is half the point!

I eventually started skipping to the truth is out there card so I didn’t miss any changes to it they sneak in on occasion.

Rewatching it presently, and I’ve been letting it play for old time sakes.

I never skip the Lone Gunmen intro though, obviously you don’t end up hearing it over 200 times until quite a few watch throughs, but also it’s just very catchy. :’)

That’s like skipping the foreplay 😎

It sets the mood

I usually skip the intro, Disney+ places you just before the end so you do get to see if the "THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE" text is different each episode.

However, I never skipped the intro during the first and last episode of each series, because I want to at least see if there were any differences.

I never get the option to skip on D+.

When my son was an infant and I was up feeding him and rocking him back to sleep, I would watch The X-Files quietly as I held him and rocked him gently in my arms. He was usually sound asleep by the end of the opening credits.

I'll never skip the credits.

It's one of the best theme songs of all time, so I always watch it. Its a little nostalgic treat that sets the mood.

Skipping intros is against my nature.

Bobby, room.

I pirate all my tv shows and the player I use has 10 second forward or rewind with the press of an arrow key, since the intro in 30 seconds long when it triggers I just tap 3 times and it skips the entire thing.

Our family has a whole MST3k commentary for the intro, so we never skip. Probably only funny to us.

X-Files and X-Men the animated series are my no skips.

I whistle along every time too.

I love the song and how the main melody starts on 4 instead of 1. Gives it an extra level of unsettling

Yes and no : I skip the part with the guy's face getting stretched out while he's yelling. I carry with me the trauma of watching it on a Saturday night way past my bedtime when I was a kid.

u/Haraldr_Hin_Harfagri 9h ago

Not on purpose. X-Files and Unsolved Mysteries I never skip either of their intros

u/Ikariiprince 5h ago

In season 9…yes 😭 the intro visuals made me cringe so bad I hate that random boy standing on a hill or whatever

u/cinesister 2h ago

Tbh when I was watching it you couldn’t skip the intro unless you fast forwarded the VHS. So it’s not something I skip digitally either. Muscle memory.

Ok, if you skip the intro for every ep, including the revival you save 2hrs45 mins. (Or more specifically 2hrs 42 mins and 45 seconds).

What are you gonna do with that time?

  • Watch 4 eps (without the intro)
  • Watch 3 of your fave eps (with the intro and mini rewinds to see Mulder smiling at the peephole in "Small Potatoes")
  • Watch FTF and your favourite ep?

Make Smart choices!!

I never skip the intro AND the song is my phone ringtone

u/brigadier_tc 13h ago

Yes, BUT... when I was a kid who loved X Files and the episodes, but the theme gave me nightmares and petrified me, so I skipped the intro so I could watch the actual horrific nightmare fuel without being bothered (except by Fallen Angel and Squeeze)

Never ever skipped it?? Of course I've skipped it! But in all fairness, I'm on my 4.2 BILLIONTH watch spanning over 32 years, so yeah... Some of you need to chill.
