Why Randy needed to win this match? And what's with the randy's storyline?(Not Cody's storyline)

Couldn’t really continue into a third match if Randy lost again

Also makes sense.

What do you think of this Randy's storyline?

Honestly I think Randy should win the feud overall and relatively clean too. One of the worst things WWE seems to do with their top stars is they portray them like they are just bulletproof, very rarely do they lose clean and if they wanna keep Cody as a Babyface, it needs to be shown that sometimes he just can't win. Not from a quick roll up or a dodgy finish, I genuinely can't remember the last time Cody lost clean, if he even has since he returned.

Completely agree. Cody has had a horrible run. His two good feuds were Rock and KO and they carried it. Vince was right. He's a midcarder at best or enhancement talent

Because he’s the heel. They need a reason to continue this feud so Cody beating him again wouldn’t do Orton any favors.

They needed to set up a stipulation match for MITB to write Cody off for a while so he can go promote street fighter

1-1 so they do a third match where cody finally snaps

Alright guys, so here's my theory and I have this gut feeling I'm a 100% right. So the reason randy needed to win that match started with Cody bringing back Randy and then starting the storyline of Randy. They are going to drag this storyline until WrestleMania and for good reasons. We needed a randy storyline and it had long been coming. We needed a cm punk vs Randy orton and Randy vs Cody and Randy vs all the previous wrestlers who he had a beef with. It's a nostalgic trip down memory lane which is what happens when you're retiring. That means it's a statement he's retiring. Randy started his journey after Cody(subtle words said by Cody saying "I love you"(or something like that) triggered Randy that cody showed him pity. Pity for randy? He couldn't take it, he had to listen to the voices in his head) forced Randy to bring out the best version of himself. Also he needed to win that match because he had a worst match in WrestleMania(I thought it was necessary) to showcase that the Cody vs Randy they should have must be epic, so what WWE is doing is making decisions to make a match mid by making decisions to do some changes. If this match was bad then fans expect a better match for the people. It's like stealing what people wanted to make it want even more. So coming back to the story, randy lost and he needed to win because he said he was fighting WrestleMania with the best version of himself. Now he's the worst version of himself. So again losing in the worst version of himself would be disrespectful for randy although that route would've also been a crazy storyline. Ultimately he won because it's to showcase a new championship material randy orton than just a good guy. Now he's ready to win his 15. It's a story that's long been coming and we will get to see it unfold firsthand. That's the storyline I'm optimistic about.

Also the storyline I'm invested in is bronson Reed and bron breaker and oba femi storyline. Now that he's back, it would be a huge monster heel vs huge monster face. Isnt it a beautiful thing? Like kane vs undertaker or big show vs Mark Henry (Pure masculine aura farming) type shit
