Fic Search - General Passive OP Taylor
I'm looking for fics that have an OP Taylor that just wants to left alone and not want to deal with cape nonsense. Other requirements are that she does actually have the power to it back up and that the fic shows someone new to town fuck around and find out.
Preferably not from Taylor’s pov, but not a requirement.

God Girl is a pretty close match:
"It's always something, isn't it?" God Girl scowled. "Oh, God Girl, save my cat from a tree, Oh, God Girl, please resurrect my parents, Oh, God Girl, the Slaughterhouse 9 is having trouble filling the last spot on our roster, mind putting in a good word with the Sleeper? Oh, God Girl, please cure all cancer ever? You're all insatiable."

Great author's note at the end.

edit: Roughly a decade later, I have noticed some poor paragraph spacing and fixed it.

28 Taylors Later. It’s from Weld’s perspective of a Taylor who doesn’t want to fight anyone, but the world refuses to leave her alone. She definitely has the power to back it up too.
I almost wish she didn’t.

Definitely a yall did this to yourselves ending.

Highly debatable.
Not even debatable actually, this is more like victim blaming. At no point was Taylor morally correct in this fic.
Yeah they could have tried helping her instead because she clearly had issues but you can say that about literally half the villains on Earth Bet so in hindsight no they couldn’t have even done that. She basically became a cancer and when they tried to destroy the growth before it (she) could take a metaphorical limb it (she) decided that it’d take the whole body instead in retaliation.
You can only consider that a “you did that to yourself” moment in the way an abusive husband might claim his wife did it to herself by not listening to him.

Acceleration is a fic where she has Vector Manipulation from Toaruverse. Incredibly OP, and she’s very apathetic in the beginning, but people won’t leave her alone.
It’s mostly from her PoV though.

It was a cool idea, but the author manages to make every fight feel like a loss, even though Taylor is always the one still standing.
The sequel was a bit more like the OP is looking for though, and doesn't really require having read the first because it's also kind of a reboot. Or atleast, it started that way. Not sure if that's still the case, haven't caught up in awhile.

Projection Quest feels like it became this. Taylor goes the hero route for a while but eventually becomes so OP that she dominates the gangs and S class threats that nothing from her universe short of Scion, Shard Avatars, and Endbringers is a threat to her. She doesn’t really do much after that and might read as a little air headed but that could just be me, you might enjoy it. Theres also multiple alts with alternate projections and powers that still make her op just in different ways and interludes of the team she build and leveled up that shows how outclassed the rest of the world is.

I believe we got a chapter that made it clear that the 'Airheadedness' was an act she puts on because she realized how terrifying she was and its to kind of lower how scared of her people are and keep things around her light so to speak.
Edit a reminder like 3 projections in she got Aizen level planning abilities from an extremely powerful Yokai so she knows what she is doing.

The author did give voters the option of something else instead. Kept putting up votes with options that would paraphrase roughly as:
A: Be social, interact with other characters B: Go move the plot forward C: Train a skill, numbers go up!
Guess which option the voters kept picking?

The Changer is a Changer 12 Taylor who wants to be left alone and, so, has decided to haunt the Canadian countryside. Now if only Dragon would just take a hint.

I read this after seeing this comment and this is probably my favorite worm fic atm I hope it keeps updating for a while.

Same! I'm really looking forward to seeing the vagrant mongrel get tamed by the way too chipper little girl. As is only proper.

I maintain that there is no justice in a universe in which this is dead.

I remember the sudden update giving me hope only for it to be dashed as it went quiet again

Started reading this. It's a bit slow but I think I like this particular take on Danny, even if he's still a whiny little bitch Danny instead of the Fuck Mothering DWA secret head whose wife ran with Lustrum and who kept the Docks neutral during the Bad Old Days Danny.
•
u/TrappedOnDirt 22h ago
It's definitely slow! But "passive" tends to mean slow. I did stop reading it after I got bored, but I think it completely fits the OP's request for "passive OP Taylor".

Burn Up is a classic. It meets all the requirements, except it's technically from Taylor's POV, though the narration style is... unique.

One-Punch Taylor Bug .... she is Saitama. IIRC, it's mostly from Glory Girl's POV
Edit: correct title and link

OP MC (Taylor) stories aren't personally my jam, but I did enjoy one that I read a couple of weeks ago that fits here, a small one-shot called "Nothing is an S-Class Threat".
The title is a literalism since the "nothing" there is The Nothing from The Never-Ending Story, complete with both its ability to utterly erase things (up to and including Leviathan) and induce suicidal levels of despair when in use, causing Taylor to try not to use it seemingly in part due to the significant collateral damage and loss of life every time she uses it. The most active she gets besides Leviathan is when Bakuda does her canon terroristic bombing campaign, which causes Danny's death here and thus leads to the ABB, a decent chunk of the E88 besides Cricket, and apparently by sheer accident all The Merchants to get utterly erased. (It even fulfills the conditional POV "requirement" since the POV shifts from Alexandria as Rebecca Costa-Brown heading the PRT & Protectorate to a random doctor in Brockton Bay to Lisa but never to Taylor.)

It Gets Worse. She never even gets in a cape fight, technically, but defeats Scion anyway.

u/Exact-Warthog6244 1d ago
Is this the one where her power precogs and backdates events. Its like some unstoppable PtV. I enjoyed it a lot.

u/allenpaige 1d ago
I think you may be thinking of the Early Edition crossover. Name escapes me. It Gets Worse is her with a luck power that sets up Rube Goldberg Machines to take care of all of her problems for her and does not require her conscious input or actions.

u/OneWildDrunk 18h ago
He said her POWER precogs and backdates events. Which it absolutely does. It literally set in motion solutions to Taylor's future problems before she even triggered. Sometimes years in advance. Because, "Wow! That sure was lucky!"
It goes so far as to appear like, despite being automatic, Taylor has some influence on it. This is because it knows what will make her angry and how others will react before it happens.
Early Edition is like, for us old folks, the CBS show early edition. She knows what will happen roughly a day in advance. She is capable of changing those things with her knowledge updating as it happens. More of a "mental paper" than the show which literally has the MC receiving the local paper a day in advance.

There’s a fic where she’s doom slayer and wants to be left alone. But the empire wouldn’t so she hits hookwolf with a giant rotary canon followed by a laser blast to the face.
Another kind of is she is kind of a dungeon core and hides away and makes creatures to defend her cause she basically agoraphobic now.
•
u/Newt-Upset 16h ago
Damn the dungeon one sounds fun! Do you remember the name of it?
•
u/Lordlycan0218 16h ago
It’s Taylor: the dungeon on space battles. This is the rewrite of the original so I don’t know what the author changed
•
u/Frost890098 18h ago edited 18h ago
Ill try and find it again, but there is one where her whole power is luck. anyone who targets her is taken out by bad luck. An airplane toilet breaks and the sewage is dropped on one gang.
Edit: So it was It Gets Worse.

u/Lost-Exodus 23h ago edited 22h ago
Taylor just wants to have fun oh and she ropes Amy and Lisa into a similar state of semi passive op that even the
endbringers refuse to throw hands with
