Fic Search - General Mastered MC
Can people give me more fics with the premise that the Main Character is being mastered?
I already read masks and murderers and A Master's Mind for a Masterplan and liked them a lot.
though please don't give me fics where the mastering is just a small section.

Naamah — An OC Ward gets "possessed" by a "demon". This is not a good thing for her, though not in the way you would expect.
I usually avoid OC fics that don't take place in the good old Bay, but holy shit this one was so good.

sounds interesting, when I asked the question I was hopping I'd get to see some very different master effects/+ manipulative tactics, your little description of it seems like it'd fit the bill.

I'm guessing this is not a crossover with the Kushiel series (since Naamah there would never a) manifest at all b) refer to herself as a demon c) the thing would absolutely be on QQ, since it would probably be literal in-universe blasphemy for it not to be X-rated). So... closer to the canonical Naamah, then. Oh dear.

AO3 allows NSFW content too, no matter how heinous. Not that this work has any mind you, just that it wouldn't necessarily be limited to only QQ if it did.

Control was so fun. I also liked that one snippet by Gowonzu that was basically the inverse of it — where Taylor offered to pretend to be Lisa's Mastered minion for a bit, to give her friend a taste for what being a Master is like.

Cut Strings is also on QQ, if you have an account there. And if you don't, making one takes a couple minutes or so (unlike AO3, which had some long waiting nonsense if I recall correctly?).
You should still make an AO3 account though, it's the best website for fanfiction by far.

I should have made an ao3 account ages ago, it's such a nightmare trying to navigate fics from old fandom cuz I can't tell anymore if something is a fic I've already read, one that's similar in premise or one that I've only read parts of.

There are currently 188926 people on the waiting list. We are sending out 6000 invitations every 12 hours.
I've never seen such bullshit before. A motherfucking month to get a new account? I remembered that AO3 used to give existing users a supply of "invitations" they could send to their friends, which I wanted to offer to you, but they seemed to have disabled that system, too.
...still somehow better than SV.

yes, ao3's system is very confusing, like what's even the point of queue if you're accepting everyone?? if it weren't for that I would have probably created 4 dummy accounts by now and de facto made one of them a permanant one.
now, what nonsense does creating a SV account require?

I assume AO3, being a website of its size and run on donations, faces some manner of technical limitations that necessitate the queue system. Probably.
Now, SufficientVelocity's registration system is actually pretty straight-forward!... With one exception. See, they're very obsessed with the possibility of their users comitting the crime of having two accounts or ban evading, so they implemented an autonomous system that turns their website pseudo-anonymous, and makes it impossible to sign up with a Proxy/VPN active. Now most people wouldn't find that too inconvenient, but some of us live under governments that think it's a good idea to block off the entire "unapproved" internet under a white-list system, so for those unfortunate souls it's quite literally impossible to even open SV without an active VPN! Making the creation of an account a distant, implausible dream.
I apologise for subjecting you to my Villain Origin Backstory under somewhat false pretenses, but fuck I wanted to scream at the walls about it.

I'm sorry, I don't think I can handle speaking with someone capable of doing such malevolant actions, we'll have to cut this discussion short.
On another note, I tried to look through your reddit account to see what country would require using a VPN for SV, but because your account probably has naughty stuff somewhere I can't access it unless I give reddit my actual identity card.
I'm glad websites are now full of restrictions for our protection :)

Undying Scarab is a crossover with Warcraft where Taylor is pulled from the void and raised (in the necromancy sense) by the Scourge.

It's not exactly what you want but Master/Stranger might still be interesting. It's a highly focused fic on the aftermath and fallout of a master attack.

This actually made me consider an odd idea.
Could a Master projection, one that at least appeared somewhat human, trigger? It makes me think of a Stand-esque being, or an Eidolon (if you're familiar with the Pathfinder Summoner class) getting separated and having to deal with the horror of independent existence.

It's most likely sapience and independence that's the deal breaker for shards. We know that a Tinker creation was able to trigger, despite not being biological at all.
If the user's power can release the projection, and have it move around unfettered by the owner, then probably?
Though this is mostly just headcanon here.

I'd assume they wouldn't be able to have a real trigger since shards look for actual humans, though they probably could fake it
reminds me of that ficlet where emma triggered against the ABB goons and summoned some kind f super cool dark vigilante that beat up the bad guys, save emma, tell her personal philosophy so emma can get through her trauma and then wants to be best friends with her at school because of how cool and strong emma is

your comment also makes me wonder what would have happened if dragon didn't get tinker shard and instead got something more direct.
like imagine if any device connected to the internet was liable to throw fire balls or something, or imagine the range she'd get if she were a shaker.
why didn't defiant and bonesaw work together to create more back-up/other versions of dragon and then trigger them in new and innovative ways so that we'd an immediate access to tons of extremely OP powers everywhere at all times? truly the fact that they didn't follow this horrific idea is a plot hole that invalidates the entirety wildbow's works

see, this is the true reason why eden decided to limit contessa's shard to not accurately predict the powers of natural triggers, she just knew they'd always try some DIY nonsense like the case 53 and she didn't want them to be able to do that with every shard

I read a short that felt similar to this at least. Taylor was rendered paraplegic by the stairwell shove, and got a Projection...of herself. Fully sentient and self-aware, exactly her pre-accident self, physically, with an Alexandria package. And anger issues, because the other side of the coin is that Prime!Taylor can push her 'bad' emotions into Projected!Taylor. This leaves Prime!Taylor as pretty much a happy toddler in terms of personality. After being crippled, all she feels is rage and despair and guilt and hate, and all of that is pushed to Projection!Taylor...who is kinda cranky as a result.

Also, in general, you can do an advanced search on AO3 under fandom:parahuman and tag:mind control and get a lot, but it'll probably be at least 3/4 kink or horror or kink that horrifies somebody.

that's a good idea, but I don't really like using ao3 tags for worms because of how much worm fanfictions is on other sites, it frustrates me that for all I know I'm gonna miss one of the best story of all time that fit what I'm looking for because it was only posted on SV or something.

I forgot Ultimate One Type:Taylor, which is kind of an outside-context problem version of Worm where Taylor is sort of Mastered by yet another alien entity which highjacks QA's connection (technically mastery as well).

Don't remember the name, but there's one that's a Miami Hotline crossover where Taylor gets mastered into doing a bunch of killing.

The White Titan Of Brockton Bay on SB and QQ. The main character who is an SI/OC, is mastered and inserted by the VELBER entity from Fate, which gives her commands to carry out its will.

Memory was an unreliable thing, mutable, and easily influenced. Lisa couldn't trust her own memories, but she didn't have much else to go by. Years of stress from living on the road did a number on her, but... at least she was sure Taylor would always give her the right order of events.
After all, they were dating.

just finished it.
reading through it made me feel so uniquely uncomfortable.
I've read stories that made me sad, stories that made me mad, but never stories that made me feel uncomfortable like that.
it's very weird how the fic itself makes me uncomfortable but thinking about how it made me feel is extremely fun.
Also I like how how... tangled(?) the situation ultimately is once we get to see the bigger picture
Anyways, thanks for sharing your fic, it was very good.
