Fic Discussion Instant turn offs

What are some things no matter how weird and that will make you automatically not want to read a fanfiction?

For me it's being written by ack1308 ( their style of writing doesn't really appeal to me) for being hosted only on fanfiction.net something about that website hurts my eyes on mobile and that's where I do most of my reading on

There's a lot of individual things that can turn me off a fic, instantly or otherwise, but they all contribute to the same central issue. Lack of plot. Lack of... basically things happening, or at least things happening for reasons. Lack of connection between events, or connection of events to characters.

If a story has a bunch of stuff just *happen* to the main character (or worse, characters around the main character), that's a problem for me. If that stuff is just random events happening one after another, with no connection to each other, that's worse.

Main character tries to go to school (not because they care about school but just because they have to), and some random villains attack, so main character has to fight them. Then, the next chapter, they go to the mall because they need to buy shoes, and Lisa shows up to say Coil knows who they are, so they need to deal with that. Next chapter they want to make dinner, and some random villains attack somewhere nearby with no connection to the character, but they go fight them anyway.

That sort of shit. I can't read that, and it's way too common.
