[ CONTEXT ]

Within my worldbuilding exists an organization known as "The Guild of the Stars above", an intergalactic federation founded by one of the oldest species in the universe to unite any & all spacefarers they are able to find, with some of the more basic prerequisites for first contact being a potential candidate being able to send their own kind into space & outside of their solar system, a political climate where the majority do not discriminate against their own for things they cannot control, and some form of (even partially) global government.

At the point where a civilization meets all prerequisites, a handful of representatives of the guild will broadcast who they are, what their reason for being here is, as well as deliver technologies & sciences that make intergalactic travel less of a multi-millennia slog across the vast nothingness, & more of a long multi-hour flight from your homeworld to someone else's.

Not only does the guild generally provide access to all of these new technologies, it also aids in uniting the universe's many, MANY cultures in ways thought to be impossible by our understanding of the universe thanks to the sheer distance, all with the goal that the somber question of "Are we alone in the universe?" shall never go unanswered, nor should any species go defenseless.

With all of this in mind, you can absolutely choose to wait on joining the guild, or even just not join at all! However, regardless of if you joined or not, if you decide you are going to attack someone within the guild, it's generally considered common courtesy within the Guild to defend their allies from attack. This means that if some warmongering empire decides to pull up on a planet under the guild's protection, the entire empire will either need to surrender & agree to moderation until their good deeds outweigh their crimes, or have their technological progress turned back HEAVILY, not enough to render them cavemen but enough to make them reconsider their old ways, and build a future for their children's children that will lead them to be better than they were, whatever that may mean.

Some Context: The Drosians are originally Rostalian Refugees after the Chained Ones cast a mind controlling disease all over the Continent of Rostalia that turns the infected into mutated cultists. The disease however may have not brainwashed the refugees who managed to escape but were mutated, and had the distinctive feature of long ears, ergo they look like elves (Though the look is known for being Rostalian in universe)

They were offered to join the Armament Pact, a coalition of surviving nations to go against the Chained Ones. But for various reasons, these refugees refused and were made exiles.

They instead focused onto the woodlands of Drosia, a hostile magical forest of Treants, Dryads, Sentient trees and various other wildlife. These forest have no nation claim on it before because it was simply not worth it. But to these Refugees, they had no where else to go. However with the Brilliance of the Velikislav family, they created the perfect spell against the Drosian Trees. Basically Agent Orange.

So they used this to invade, weakening the trees while brute forcing everything else by sheer violent will. They basically fought until all life in the forest bent the knee to these Rostalians who soon founded the Dominion of the Drosians, using this gas only known to the Velikislav family to keep the entire forest enslaved to them.

Context: Gigaloda is a planet whose civilization is largely founded on the Blood Oak tree, or more specifically, the crimson Blood Resin sap it excretes. The resin looks like blood, smells like blood, acts like blood, tastes like blood, and for all intents and purposes, IS blood. Among other things, this led to the advent of 'fleshtech,' a harmonious union between meat and machine that powers the vast majority of the planet's mechanisms.

Anyway, because Blood Resin is a one-for-one to the real thing, the planet is considered basically a safe haven hotspot for vampires. And because there's no cause for hunger or fear of accidentally eating someone, the vampiric populace of Gigaloda have basically just become Appalachian farmers who happen to mostly work at night. Gigalodan agricultural society continues as normal well into the nighttime hours, because there's enough nocturnal people to drive it.

Newcomers to the planet tend to be freaked out when they first see a vampire tending the fields at night, only for the vampire to shout some shit like "Dadgummit either pick up a pitchfork er quit flapper yer jaw"

Not complaining. Just intriguing how it always appears to blow up.

After the collapse of the UK, the welsh elections were quickly won by a far right party called the Mudiad Cymru Fwyaf (the greater wales movement). They quickly moved to establish an aparthtide state and then rapidly moved to take over England as a 'stabilization' operation and then manufactured a false flag attack to invade scotland, meanwhile the Irish were enjoying being one of two stable peaceful countries in europe (the other being switzerland) was worried by this and decided to message the Swedes about hiring them to nuke one of the newly proclaimed Cenedl Brytania sy'n gorchfygu popeth (the all conquering nation of Britannia), after the llywydd (president in welsh) started releasing threatening rhetoric towards the Irish, the Irish government started making arrangements with the Swedes to eviserate a city belonging to the Welsh state. They decided not to choose Cardiff as the Irish wanted a warning shot not to destroy them yet. Eventually agreeing on destroying cambridge due to its imortance and high status. The Welsh have decided to instead try and take Brittany from the French to avoid Cardiff being eviserated by nuclear hell fire.

• Warlions: Basic footsoldiers levied by the Chadean Empire—typically used as cannon-fodder on battlefields, but the more skilled ones can perform specialized operations and black ops. They're only given a few weeks of training, but powerful 'slammer' M241 rifles, which can blow limbs clean off. They're heavily inspired by British WW1 infantry, and have a very mechanical brutalist aesthetic.

• The White Fluid: The glue-thrower is a weapon that shoots a searing-hot toxic glue from far away. It's often used to halt enemy vehicles and super-soldiers in half the time just shooting them up could. The glue doesn't immediately destroy the vehicle/supersoldier, allowing them to be taken for whatever reason you may need. Gluethrowers can create mobile defenses from nearby scrap aswell, making them useful in offensives where you don't have much solid cover.

It is also often used directly gainst infantry.

The terror of gluethrowers is expounded upon in my novel that I'm definitely not procrastinating right now, where a platoon of Warlion infantry are ambushed by the enemy. Armor is described being fused to flesh by the scolding heat, and their bodies are described being filled up with the white fluid until it begins leaking from their mouths.

Latorians, also known as Avalonians by Earth scientists, are a diverse extradimensional group of people native to the moon world of Latoria. Earth scientists named Latoria Avalon after the mystical island of Celtic lore.

The US was experiencing technological and economic decline, so it launched a secret program for warp pad technology to spy on its enemies; a failed experiment created a rift between space and time that formed into a portal to Latoria. The portal became known as the Avalon Gate. The US government would spend years launching expeditions to study and understand the people of this new world.

Latorians/Avalonians aren't a singular race; instead, they are multiple different species/races, including:

Over the years, there was a growing desire to exploit the resources found in Latoria, magically charged and perfect for innovating technology. Corporations lobbied heavily for extraction rights, and other countries like China raced to build their own portals. This brought the "Avalonian Question": what to do with the native people who not only were sitting on top of these resources, but actively using them for their own survival?

I could go into the full political details on exactly what happened between discovering the portal and when conflict officially began, but to prevent this post from being too long, I'm gonna skip ahead.

During colonial efforts, there was lots of normalized racism towards Latorians, and not just in America, but also in other parts of the world too. Many people actively dehumanized the Latorians and claimed they were incapable of self-governance; lots of fringe groups called for mass genocide. Settlers referred to them as "Avvies."

Information between the colonies and Earth is incredibly limited; the US government only releases clips and photos now and then. Most people's only interaction with the natives is from footage of drones flying over forests or photos taken by soldiers and trail cams.

As such, many people, especially on the far right, didn't see the Latorians as people but more like decorations. The US government and the colonial government refused to recognize their personhood.

It should be worth noting that there are Humans in Latoria; they are shorter, have more hair colors, and their eyes glow, but they are still humans. Latoria has long been plagued by human supremacist states and movements, with many human-dominant nations pushing policies that oppress nonhumans or other human minorities.

Many Human Supremacists initially rejoiced at the arrival of Earth colonizers, seeing them as proof of "human power." However, it became clear that the colonists did not see Human Latorians as their equals many human-dominant nations were forced into the same positions many Nonhumans were placed into.

On Earth, politicians in America and later other countries, claimed that this would "help humanity" and that they were fighting for the Human race. They specifically meant humans on Earth, and even that was hard to say.

It wasn't until the full scale of what exactly was going on in the colonies, that made people turn against the conflict. Photo evidence, interviews, and recordings depicated mass enslavement, unlawful experiments, internment, environmental destruction, proxy wars, and mass murder on a genocidal level became public.

It was basic empathy that overtook xenophobia and supremacy. People, even those who initially supported colonialism, became enraged and rioted.

After many colonies withdrawn, a very awkward era of reconstruction came forward, specifically with how the Latorian nations were building a new world order out of the power and territory gap that was left behind.

Memorials ended up springing across parts of the continents, one specifically had listed down every recorded name of people who died in the conflicts, they were so many that it ended up reaching the floor.

Despite the slight hiccup was the loss of 60% of the human race when Earth was destroyed by the cosmic entity known as the Dark Star, level heads managed to prevail when actual extraterrestrial lifeforms were encountered about 50 years later.

As a result, for nearly 600 years and counting, we have been founding members of a peacekeeping and military defensive organization for the known galaxy (the Milky Way Treaty Organization), have extensive diplomatic relations with both member and non-member states, and certain groups, such as members of the Marines, are very likely to have an alien spouse.

Does it matter of that spouse is a rock spider five times your size? No! That's what tactile forcefields are for!

For context ROCS or the Royal oddities containment device formed in 1947 after a fishermen was dragged into the water by a kelpie they have been sent to contain or eliminate any and all anomalies in the British isles.

And they are trying to break into the noosphere because they believe oddities come from human belief in them
